Ohio's historical markers, on the maps of their own eras

Markers from the Ohio Historical Markers program now have permanent pages at TreeAlive, placing their full inscriptions, both sides where a marker has two, on georeferenced maps from the periods they commemorate.

1,782 marker pages, on more than 84,000 historical map sheets. Ohio Historical Markers program, Ohio History Connection, credited on every page.

Every dot is a live page. Click one to preview it or add it to a road trip; many dots hold several markers each; click a busy spot to zoom in. Prefer a list? Browse all 1,782 markers by county.

What an Ohio family sees

TreeAlive maps family trees. When a visitor's ancestors lived in Ohio, the markers standing near those places surface automatically alongside their family's journey:

Birthplace of Thomas A. Edison · a few streets from where a family lived in the 1850s · the brick cottage where the inventor was born in 1847, built by his father in 1841

When a marker stands near a place in your own tree, you have a personal reason to go see it. Open the live demo tree, choose the Crossings tab, and turn on Historical Markers to see the experience working (the demo family’s markers are in Pennsylvania; an Ohio family sees Ohio’s).

QR-ready, from day one

Every marker page has print-ready QR artwork. A scan at the sign opens the marker's page on the period map, no app to install. TreeAlive does no printing or installation.

Marker page links are permanent: identifiers are never reassigned, so a code printed today resolves for good.
