Omschrijving onderdeel 13:
SPRENGEN- EN BEKENSTELSEL MET WIJER. In oorsprong tot in de 16de eeuw of eerder teruggaand stelsel van uitgegraven sprengen, met voor het grootste deel rechte beken en wijer van indrukwekkende omvang, dat vanouds in functioneel en visueel opzicht de ruggengraat van het landgoed vormt en in het historische buitenplaatsenpark een grote functionele en sierwaarde vertegenwoordigt. Het stelsel wordt gevoed door drie uitgegraven sprengkoppen aan de westzijde van de aanleg aan de oostflank van de Trijnselenberg, die als beek zijn verlengd en die de in het hart van de parkaanleg gelegen molenwijer voedt. Naast deze drie sprengkoppen werd aan de westzijde van de Spaansen Graven aan het einde van de 16de eeuw een sprengkop aangeboord om de schans en later het oostelijke deel van het landgoed van water te voorzien, zoals tot op heden herkenbaar is gebleven. Het oeverprofiel van de terzijde van het huis gelegen wijer werd in de tweede kwart van de 19de eeuw iets glooiender gemaakt zodat de wijer sindsdien tevens de karakteristiek van landschappelijke parkvijver heeft. Waarschijnlijk eerder, omstreeks het begin van de 19de eeuw, werden de sprengkoppen aan de westzijde van het park van een beukaanplant voorzien, om dit zeer geaccidenteerde deel van de aanleg in de geest van de vroege landschapsstijl te verfraaien. De huidige aanleg van de sprengkoppen en aansluitend bekenstelsel is zichtbaar op de kaart uit de Hottingeratlas uit ca. 1783. De sierwaarde van deze aanleg komt naar voren in een brief van Jhr. R. van Ingen over Molecaten uit ca. 1820-1821:"er is meen ik van het begin der bron (source) tot de laagste uitwatering agter de molens een verval van veertig voeten van het water, waarvan de schoonste partij konde worden getrokken".

SPRINGS AND STREAM SYSTEM WITH POND. A system, originally going back to the 16th century or earlier, of excavated springs with for the most part straight streams and a pond of impressive size, which from time immemorial has been the backbone of the estate both functionally and visually and in the historic country house park represents great functional and ornamental value. The system is fed by three excavated spring heads on the west side of the development on the east flank of the Trijnselenberg, which have been extended as streams and which feed the mill pond located in the heart of the park development. In addition to these three spring heads, a spring head was tapped at the west side of the Spaansen Graven at the end of the 16th century to supply the fortification and later the eastern part of the estate with water, as remains recognizable to this day. The bank profile of the pond situated alongside the house was made somewhat more sloping in the second quarter of the 19th century so that since then the pond has also had the character of a landscape park pond. Probably earlier, around the beginning of the 19th century, the spring heads on the west side of the park were provided with a beech planting in order to embellish this very uneven part of the development in the spirit of the early landscape style. The current development of the spring heads and adjoining stream system is visible on the map from the Hottinger atlas from approximately 1783. The ornamental value of this development is evident in a letter from Jhr. R. van Ingen regarding Molecaten from approximately 1820-1821: "there is I think from the beginning of the spring (source) to the lowest drainage behind the mills a fall of forty feet of water, from which the most beautiful view could be drawn".
