Inleiding
KANTOORGEBOUW van de Havendienst, deel uitmakend van het complex "Parksluizen" en centraal gelegen in het midden van het terrein tussen de Kleine en de Grote Parksluis.
Omschrijving
Het kantoor is opgetrokken in rode baksteen op een kruisvormige plattegrond, waarbij de uiterst oostelijke en westelijke hoeken van het pand ter hoogte van de begane grond zijn afgeschuind. Het gebouw omvat twee bouwlagen onder een laag schilddak, met een gemetselde schoorsteen op de nok. De rondboogvormige, inpandige entree bevindt zich in de zuidgevel en is voorzien van een rondboogomlijsting van baksteen afgewisseld met natuursteen en natuurstenen dorpel. De dubbele houten (rondboog)voordeur is voorzien van smalle rechthoekige vensters met roedenverdeling. Ter hoogte van de verdieping bevindt zich een uitspringende driezijdige verticale vensterstrook met natuurstenen omlijsting en dito kraagsteen. De oost- en westgevel zijn identiek en bevatten ter hoogte van de begane grond op de afgeschuinde hoeken tweeledige vensters en in het midden een breed drieledig venster (in de oostgevel vervangen door een dubbele deur). Boven de vensters bevindt zich een doorlopende betonnen latei. Ter hoogte van de verdieping geheel rondom de drie zijden van de (oostelijke en westelijke) bouwvolumes een licht uitkragende horizontale vensterstrook met roedenverdeling. Zowel op de begane grond als ter hoogte van de verdieping verder enige zeer kleine rechthoekige vensters. De noordgevel bevat op de begane grond een horizontaal rechthoekig venster en op de verdieping een uitspringende driezijdige verticale vensterstrook met natuurstenen omlijsting en kraagsteen, conform aan de zuidgevel. In het interieur een nog in oorspronkelijke staat verkerende betegelde hal annex trappenhuis.

Uit 1931-1933 daterend kantoorgebouw Havendienst in zakelijk-expressionistische trant, van algemeen belang wegens architectuurhistorische waarde als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het complex "Parksluizen".

OFFICE BUILDING of the Harbour Service, forming part of the complex "Parksluizen" and centrally located between the Kleine and the Grote Parksluis.
Description
The office is erected in red brick on a cruciform ground plan, with the easternmost and westernmost corners of the building at ground floor level chamfered. The building comprises two storeys under a low hipped roof, with a masonry chimney on the ridge. The round-arched, in-building entrance is located in the south facade and is fitted with a round-arched frame of brick alternating with natural stone and natural stone sill. The double wooden round-arched door is fitted with narrow rectangular windows with glazing bars. At first-floor level there is a projecting three-sided vertical window strip with natural stone frame and stone corbel. The east and west facades are identical and contain two-part windows at ground floor level on the chamfered corners and a broad three-part window in the centre (replaced by a double door in the east facade). Above the windows is a continuous concrete lintel. At first-floor level a lightly overhanging horizontal window strip with glazing bars extends round all three sides of the (eastern and western) building volumes. On both ground and first-floor level there are a few very small rectangular windows. The north facade contains a horizontal rectangular window at ground floor level and at first-floor level a projecting three-sided vertical window strip with natural stone frame and corbel, in conformity with the south facade. In the interior, a tiled hall with staircase in its original condition.

Office building Harbour Service dating from 1931-1933 in the business-expressionist style, of general importance due to its architectural-historical value as a historically-functional component of the complex "Parksluizen".
