Inleiding
Ten noordoosten van het hoofdgebouw gelegen boerderijensemble, bestaande uit een boerderij en zomerhuis. Het ensemble is fraai gelegen op de westelijke oever van de Kromme Rijn, de voorzijde geprojecteerd op de rivier en het aan de overzijde van de rivier gelegen wandelpad. Op de wandelingen over de oostelijke oever van de rivier en de formele laan achter de boerderij vormt het ensemble een markant decoratief-landelijk element. Oorspronkelijk was de hofstede een pachtboerderij van kasteel Rhijnauwen. In 1919 is de boerderij met het kasteel, de gronden en bijbehorende gebouwen in eigendom overgegaan naar de huidige eigenaar, de gemeente Utrecht. De boerderij heeft nog steeds een agrarische functie. Het boerderijensemble dateert uit de 18de eeuw.
Omschrijving
De rood bakstenen BOERDERIJ op rechthoekige grondslag is van het langhuistype en bestaat uit één bouwlaag en een kapverdieping onder een riet gedekt zadeldak met afgewolfde uiteinden. In de voorgevel (zuidoost) op de begane grond vier empire vensters, daarboven twee empire vensters in een kleiner formaat. In de zijgevels diverse vensters en deuren, de stalramen zijn omstreeks 1960 vervangen. De achtergevel is in 1949 vernieuwd. De oorspronkelijke plattegrond en indeling zijn nagenoeg gaaf bewaard gebleven. Rechtsvoor (onder het woonhuis) en linksachter (tussen woon- en achterhuis) een kelder, de kelder rechtsvoor krijgt daglicht via twee keldervensters in voor- en zijgevel.

De BOERDERIJ, deeluitmakend van een ensemble van boerderij en zomerhuis "Hofstede Rhijnauwen" behorende tot de buitenplaats Rhijnauwen is van algemeen belang:

Introduction
A farmstead ensemble located to the northeast of the main building, consisting of a farmhouse and summer house. The ensemble is beautifully situated on the western bank of the Kromme Rijn, with its front elevation facing the river and the walking path located on the opposite bank of the river. On walks along the eastern bank of the river and the formal avenue behind the farmhouse, the ensemble forms a striking decorative-rural element. Originally the farmstead was a tenant farm of Rhijnauwen Castle. In 1919 the farmhouse, together with the castle, the lands and associated buildings, came into the ownership of the current owner, the municipality of Utrecht. The farmhouse still has an agricultural function. The farmstead ensemble dates from the 18th century.
Description
The red brick FARMHOUSE on a rectangular ground plan is of the hall-house type and consists of one storey and a roof space under a thatch-covered gabled roof with half-hipped ends. In the front facade (southeast) on the ground floor four empire windows, above them two empire windows in a smaller format. In the side elevations various windows and doors; the stable windows were replaced around 1960. The rear facade was renewed in 1949. The original floor plan and layout have been preserved substantially intact. To the right front (below the residence) and to the left rear (between the residence and rear building) a cellar; the cellar at right front receives daylight via two cellar windows in the front and side elevation.
