Inleiding
Bouwhuizen behorend tot de historische buitenplaats Slangenburg. Ter weerszijden van het voorplein staan twee min of meer identieke bouwhuizen.

Het oostelijke BOUWHUIS, XVII-d, bakstenen gebouw van anderhalve bouwlaag (mezzanine-verdieping) onder schilddak met grijze pannen en enkele dakkapellen met driehoeksfrontons; aan de voorpleinzijde 15 (!) traveeën, van elkaar gescheiden door iets naar voren springende pilastervormige banden in het metselwerk; een even brede band loopt direct onder de daklijst over de gehele lengte van het gebouw; in de aldus gevormde vakken bevinden zich de diverse deuren en ramen van verschillend formaat; alle ramen met meerruits vensters; aan de kasteelzijde verbreedt de kopse gevel zich over enkele meters, waardoor het bouwhuis eigenlijk een haakvormige plattegrond heeft.
Waardering
Het oostelijke BOUWHUIS van twee bouwhuizen is van algemeen belang:
-vanwege de ouderdom;
-vanwege de bijzondere architectuur met terugspringende muurvlakken;
-als karakteristiek en wezenlijk onderdeel van het bouwkundig ensemble;

The eastern WORKERS' BUILDING, XVII-d, brick building of one and a half storeys (mezzanine floor) under hipped roof with grey tiles and some roof dormers with triangular pediments; on the forecourt side 15 (!) bays, separated from each other by slightly projecting pilaster-like bands in the brickwork; an equally wide band runs directly below the roof cornice along the entire length of the building; in the thus formed sections are the various doors and windows of different size; all windows with multi-light windows; on the castle side the gable end widens over several metres, which means the workers' building actually has an L-shaped floor plan.
Valuation
The eastern WORKERS' BUILDING of two workers' buildings is of general significance:

- by reason of the exceptional architecture with recessed wall surfaces;
- as a characteristic and essential component of the architectural ensemble;
