Onderdeel 5B
Inleiding
Bouwhuizen behorende tot de buitenplaats Nijenhuis. Ter weersijden van het voorplein staan rood bakstenen bouwhuizen bestaande uit één bouwlaag en een zolderverdieping onder een schilddak gedekt met gesmoorde Oud-Hollandse pannen voorzien van symmetrisch aangebrachte schoorstenen en dakkapellen. De beide oostelijke eindgevels staan in het water van de kasteelgracht. De verzakte keienbestrating voor de bouwhuizen werd in 1899 op nadrukkelijk advies van Poortman behouden, maar wel opnieuw ingelegd. De bouwhuizen dateren uit de 17de eeuw.
Omschrijving
In het zuidelijke BOUWHUIS waren oorspronkelijk de koetsierswoning (west), de paardenstal (oost) en de stalling voor de koets (midden) ondergebracht. Deze verdeling is nog steeds herkenbaar: in het westelijke deel van de voorgevel een deur met meerruits bovenlicht, geflankeerd door schuifvensters met kleine roedenverdeling (4x7); in het midden de doorgang voor de koets, die uitkomt bij de wasplaats aan de achterzijde van het gebouw; in het oostelijk deel een deur met meerruits bovenlicht, geflankeerd door hoog geplaatste meerruits stalramen. Centraal op het dak een klokkentorentje dat afkomstig is van de nabijgelegen buitenplaats Westerflier en hier omstreeks 1900 werd aangebracht. Ook dit bouwhuis is aan de achterzijde 'uitgebouwd', waardoor het dak lager uitkomt. Centraal tegen de achtergevel en haaks op het dak een met gesmoorde pannen gedekte overkapping met afgewolfd uiteinde gestut door houten palen, die oorspronkelijk diende als wasplaats voor de koets. Centraal in de gevel een getoogde dubbele koetsdeur; links en rechts verschillende deuren en vensters. Op het dak aan de westzijde twee kapellen met meerruits vensters, op de nokeinden schoorstenen. In de westelijke eindgevel twee schuifvensters als aan de voorzijde en ten zuiden daarvan een keldervenster en een dubbel openslaand venster. In de oostelijke eindgevel twee ontluchtingsgaten. Inwendig een elegante stal- en koetsinrichting uit de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw met betimmerde plafonds, paneeldeuren met authentiek hang- en sluitwerk, koetsdeuren, decoratieve lambrisering en houten boxen met een dragende constructie van gietijzer. Voorts talloze authentieke functionele elementen, zoals haken en knoppen, voor het ordelijk weghangen van 'paarden- en koetsattributen'.
Waardering
Het zuidelijke BOUWHUIS van twee bouwhuizen behorende tot de buitenplaats Nijenhuis is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;

Introduction
Outbuildings belonging to the country estate Nijenhuis. On either side of the forecourt stand red brick outbuildings consisting of one storey and an attic storey under a hipped roof covered with laid Dutch tiles provided with symmetrically placed chimneys and roof dormers. Both eastern end gables stand in the water of the castle moat. The subsided stone paving in front of the outbuildings was retained in 1899 on the explicit advice of Poortman, but was relaid. The outbuildings date from the 17th century.
Description
In the southern OUTBUILDING were originally housed the coachman's dwelling (west), the horse stable (east) and the coach house (middle). This division is still recognisable: in the western part of the front facade a door with multi-ruite fanlight, flanked by sash windows with small glazing bars (4x7); in the middle the passage for the coach, which leads to the washplace at the rear of the building; in the eastern part a door with multi-ruite fanlight, flanked by high-placed multi-ruite stable windows. Centrally on the roof a small bell tower which came from the neighbouring country estate Westerflier and was placed here around 1900. This outbuilding is also 'extended' at the rear, causing the roof to sit lower. Centrally against the rear gable and perpendicular to the roof a shelter with laid tiles and a vaulted end, supported by wooden posts, which originally served as a washplace for the coach. Centrally in the gable a vaulted double coach door; left and right various doors and windows. On the roof on the west side two dormers with multi-ruite windows, at the ridge ends chimneys. In the western end gable two sash windows as on the front and to the south of these a basement window and a double opening window. In the eastern end gable two ventilation openings. Internally an elegant stable and coach fitting from the second half of the 19th century with boarded ceilings, panel doors with authentic hinges and latches, coach doors, decorative wainscoting and wooden boxes with a supporting structure of cast iron. Furthermore numerous authentic functional elements, such as hooks and buttons, for the orderly hanging of 'horse and coach equipment'.

The southern OUTBUILDING of two outbuildings belonging to the country estate Nijenhuis is of general importance:
