TUINVAAS OP SOKKEL (VOORPLEIN) behorende tot de buitenplaats Nijenhuis. Centraal op het voorplein staat een ornamentele tuinvaas van Oberkirchner zandsteen op een hardstenen sokkel. De conische tuinvaas op voet is voorzien van een gecanneleerd profiel, de onderzijde is gedecoreerd met bladwerk en een eierlijst. Langs de rand van het deksel met ribbelprofiel en forse geribbelde knop is eveneens bladwerk aangebracht. De naar onder wijder uitlopende vierkante sokkel bestaande uit plint, basement en afdekplaat is voorzien van eenvoudig gepaneelde velden. Vaas en sokkel dateren vermoedelijk uit de late 19de eeuw. Vermoedelijk maakte deze vaas deel uit van het ontwerp van Poortman uit 1889 en was hij inbegrepen in een zending tuinvazen die op 28 mei 1889 geleverd werd door de firma Villeroy und Boch uit Merzig a/d Saar. Poortman ontwierp voor de vaas op het voorplein twee sokkels, één in baksteen en één in hardsteen. Mogelijk is de huidige sokkel uitgevoerd naar zijn ontwerp.

Description
GARDEN URN ON PEDESTAL (FRONT COURTYARD) belonging to the country estate Nijenhuis. Centrally on the front courtyard stands an ornamental garden urn of Oberkirchner sandstone on a stone pedestal. The conical garden urn on foot is furnished with a fluted profile, the underside is decorated with foliate ornament and an egg-and-dart moulding. Along the edge of the lid with ribbed profile and substantial ribbed knop foliate ornament is also applied. The downwards widening square pedestal consisting of plinth, basement and capping plate is furnished with simply panelled fields. Urn and pedestal probably date from the late 19th century. Presumably this urn formed part of Poortman's design from 1889 and was included in a consignment of garden urns which was delivered on 28 May 1889 by the firm Villeroy und Boch from Merzig on the Saar. Poortman designed two pedestals for the urn on the front courtyard, one in brick and one in stone. The present pedestal may possibly have been executed to his design.
