Torenvormige BELVÉDÈRE, gesitueerd op een omstreeks zeventig meter hoge heuveltop (de oude Ruyterenberg) in het noordoostelijke deel van het park, nabij de Ronde Weide. De toren werd in of vóór 1821 gebouwd (afgebeeld op kadastrale minuut 1821) in bescheiden neogotische vormen.
De belvédère bezat oorspronkelijk vijf geledingen en was ongeveer 24 meter hoog. Omstreeks 1950 is de toren verhoogd met anderhalve verdieping tot 28,60 meter.
De toren bezit een vierkant grondplan, is van baksteen opgetrokken en telt zes geledingen en een stenen borstwering. In de oorspronkelijke toren zijn de ingangs- en vensteromlijstingen in zandsteen vervaardigd en zijn op de hoeken hardstenen blokken aangebracht. De blokken in de onderste geleding, die dient als basement voor de rest van de toren, springen tot aan de cordonlijst iets uit het muurvlak. Uitwendig bevindt zich boven de ingangen van elk van de licht taps toelopende gevels een drietal openingen waarmee de verschillende vloerniveaus corresponderen: een rondbogige deur, een dito venster en een vierpas. Daarboven zijn aan de vier zijden eveneens rondbogige deuropeningen. Het geheel sluit aan de bovenzijde af met een bakstenen balustrade met siermetselwerk. In het inwendige een open serpentine trap.
Waardering
De BELVEDÈRE, behorend tot de historische buitenplaats Sonsbeek, is van algemeen architectonisch, cultuurhistorisch en tuinhistorisch belang:

Description
Tower-shaped BELVEDERE, situated on an approximately seventy metre high hilltop (the old Ruyterenberg) in the north-eastern part of the park, near the Ronde Weide. The tower was built in or before 1821 (depicted on the cadastral plan of 1821) in modest neo-gothic forms.
The belvedere originally had five storeys and was approximately 24 metres high. Around 1950 the tower was heightened by one and a half storeys to 28.60 metres.
The tower has a square ground plan, is built of brick and has six storeys and a stone parapet. In the original tower the entrance and window surrounds are made of sandstone and hard stone blocks are placed at the corners. The blocks in the lowest storey, which serves as a base for the rest of the tower, project slightly from the wall plane up to the stringcourse. On the outside, above the entrances of each of the slightly tapering facades, there are three openings corresponding to the different floor levels: a round-arched door, a similar window and a quatrefoil. Above these are likewise round-arched door openings on all four sides. The whole terminates at the top with a brick balustrade with decorative masonry. Inside an open spiral staircase.
