Beschrijving onderdeel 6
CASCADE MET STROOMGODEN EN VAZEN OP SOKKELS uit 1740, waarvan het ontwerp toegeschreven is aan Daniël Marot en de uitvoering aan Michiel Moser en Johann Heinrich Hagen. De cascade ligt aan de rand van de derde vijver, waarmee het de visuele afsluiting vormt van het park. Tot 1840 gelegen aan de rand van de eerste vijver ter hoogte van de schelpengalerij. Het natuurstenen geheel bestaat uit een cascade in het midden, geflankeerd door de stroomgoden Neptunus en Mercurius (of mogelijkerwijs de IJssel en Rijn). De cascade is opgebouwd uit drie compartimenten naast elkaar, elk bestaand uit vier boven elkaar geplaatste waterbakken met lichtgebogen rand. De scheidingsstukken tussen de compartimenten zijn gedecoreerd met voluten en gebeeldhouwde schelpen en worden bekroond door ronde vazen op vierkante voetstukken. De deksels van deze vazen worden bedekt door uit steen gehouden druipend zeewier. Boven het middelste compartiment is een grote opstaande schelp geplaatst, eveneens gesierd met afhangend wier. In de schelp is een mascaron zichtbaar dat water in de bovenste bak van de cascade spuwt. De stroomgoden op de plateaus aan weerszijden van de cascade zijn liggende, half opgerichte mannelijke figuren, leunend op kruiken waaruit water kan stromen. De figuur links met (houten) roer stelt Mercurius voor, de figuur rechts met de (houten) drietand Neptunus. Het geheel is in de jaren 1970 gerestaureerd.

CASCADE WITH RIVER GODS AND VASES ON PLINTHS from 1740, the design of which is attributed to Daniël Marot and the execution to Michiel Moser and Johann Heinrich Hagen. The cascade is situated at the edge of the third pond, forming the visual conclusion of the park. Until 1840 located at the edge of the first pond at the level of the shell gallery. The natural stone ensemble consists of a cascade in the centre, flanked by the river gods Neptune and Mercury (or possibly the IJssel and Rhine). The cascade is constructed from three compartments placed side by side, each consisting of four water basins arranged one above the other with slightly curved edges. The dividing pieces between the compartments are decorated with volutes and carved shells and are crowned by round vases on square plinths. The lids of these vases are covered by dripping seaweed carved from stone. Above the middle compartment a large upright shell is placed, also adorned with hanging seaweed. The river gods on the platforms on either side of the cascade are reclining, half-raised male figures, leaning on pitchers from which water can flow. The figure on the left with a (wooden) rudder represents Mercury, the figure on the right with the (wooden) trident Neptune. The whole was restored in the 1970s.
