Voormalige SMEDERIJ, deel van een in 1909 aan de Conradstraat gemaakt gebouw waarvan het andere deel hergebruikt is ten behoeve van de timmerwerkplaats, in 1927 verplaatst naar de huidige locatie, naar ontwerp van G.J. Langhout, als onderdeel van het complex Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij, oorspronkelijk gebouwd voor de Nederlandsche Scheepsbouw Maatschappij. Vrijstaand bouwwerk, gelegen in het hart van de werf.
Loods bestaande uit gevels met een stalen raamwerkconstructie met vakken van verschillend formaat die afwisselend met bakstenen metselwerk, deur- en vensterpartijen met vierkante ramen in stalen sponningen. De deuren zijn blauw geschilderd. Het dak bestaat uit een flauw hellend zadeldak met in de breedte opgelegde lichtstraten. In het interieur een tweebeukige ruimte met stalen kolommen in het midden (voorzien van een moderne middenmuur), waarboven Engelse spanten het geheel overkappen. Het interieur is voorzien van kraanbanen.

Smederij van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als onderdeel van een van de belangrijkste scheepsbouwwerven in Nederland, alsmede van architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de constructie van Engelse spanten en vakwerkkolommen, alsmede vanwege de robuuste industriële uitstraling.

Description
Former SMITHY, part of a building made in 1909 on the Conradstraat of which the other part was reused for the carpentry workshop, moved in 1927 to the present location, to the design of G.J. Langhout, as part of the complex Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij, originally built for the Nederlandsche Scheepsbouw Maatschappij. Detached building, located in the heart of the yard.
Shed consisting of facades with a steel framework construction with bays of varying format alternating with brick masonry, door and window arrays with square windows in steel frames. The doors are painted blue. The roof consists of a shallow sloping gabled roof with roof lights laid in across the width. In the interior a two-aisle space with steel columns in the middle (fitted with a modern centre wall), above which English trusses cover the whole. The interior is fitted with crane tracks.
