Omschrijving onderdeel 8: GROTE VOORBURCHT (GROTE COUR/COUR D'HONNEUR).
Voorburcht met verschillende rode bakstenen bastions met schietsleuven en rondeel. Langs de gehele binnengracht rode bakstenen keermuren. Voorburcht, bastions, rondeel en keermuren werden door Cuypers rond 1900 ontworpen.
Waardering
De GROTE VOORBURCHT (GROTE COUR/COUR D'HONNEUR) is in cultuurhistorisch opzicht van algemeen belang:
- als markante uiting van internationaal romantisch historiserende restauratie opvattingen van een middeleeuws kasteelcomplex uit het einde der 19de eeuw;

Forecourt with various red brick bastions with embrasures and roundel. Along the entire inner moat red brick retaining walls. Forecourt, bastions, roundel and retaining walls were designed by Cuypers around 1900.
