Inleiding
Het landgoed De Hoevens, al sinds de Middeleeuwen een pachthoeve van de abdij van Tongerlo, werd in 1918 aangekocht door de gebroeders Blomjous uit Tilburg. Achter een boerderij in Ambachtelijk-Traditionele stijl bevindt zich een KARSCHOP uit de achttiende eeuw.
Omschrijving
Het karschop is een langgerekt gebouwtje met deels bakstenen muren onder een laag aanzettend schilddak met Oudhollandse pannen en deels verbeterde Hollandse pannen gedekt. Het bevat drie ankerbalkgebinten die driehoekspanten dragen met gordingen en deels originele daksporen. Het muurwerk van het gebouwtje dat aan de voorzijde open is, is opgetrokken uit handgevormde en machinale baksteen.
Waardering
Het karschop op het landgoed De Hoevens is van algemeen belang. Introduction
The estate De Hoevens, since the Middle Ages a tenant farm of the abbey of Tongerlo, was purchased in 1918 by the brothers Blomjous from Tilburg. Behind a farmhouse in Artisanal-Traditional style is situated a CART SHED from the eighteenth century.
Description
The cart shed is an elongated structure with partly brick walls under a gently pitched hipped roof with Old Dutch tiles and partly improved Dutch tiles. It contains three collar-beam principals carrying triangulated rafters with collar ties and partly original roof rafters. The masonry of the structure, which is open at the front, is constructed of hand-formed and machine-made brick.
Valuation
The cart shed on the estate De Hoevens is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as a specimen of the development of the agricultural history of Brabant from the early Middle Ages to the early twentieth century; it is also of significance as an example of the typological development of the cart shed. It has architectural-historical value on account of the building history. It has ensemble values on account of the cohesion between buildings and cultural landscape.
