Inleiding
LIFTGEBOUW annex garagewerkplaats, onderdeel van het complex Fort aan den Hoek van Holland. Het gebouw, met een inpandige lift voor goederen en personen, is in 1943 door de Duitse bezetter gebouwd in een zakelijke trant. Het gebouw diende ter vervanging van het hier, oorspronkelijk gesitueerde, houten liftgebouwtje. Oorspronkelijk was het gepleisterde gebouw beschilderd in camouflagekleuren. Later is de huidige witte verflaag aangebracht.
Omschrijving
Ter hoogte van de hoofdingang van het escarpgebouw, op de buitenring van het fort gesitueerd liftgebouw annex garagewerkplaats. Het gebouw is op een rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken, deels in gepleisterde baksteen en deels met een betonconstructie. Het gebouw heeft een plat dak en een overkragende betonnen dakrand. De vensters zijn gevat in stalen profielen en voorzien van dito roedenverdeling. Het linker bouwvolume met de lift is een halve verdieping hoger opgetrokken dan de garagewerkplaats rechts daarvan. Het gebouw heeft aan de voorzijde, in de gevel parallel aan de straat, twee getoogde dubbele ijzeren garagedeuren onder een betonnen luifel. Op de verdieping boven de linker garagedeur is een rechthoekig venster aangebracht. Boven de rechter garagedeur begint een strookvenster, dat - richting het noorden - tot aan het einde van deze gevel doorloopt. Boven de linker garagedeur begint waar het strookvenster eindigt een betonnen cordonlijst, die rondom het gebouw doorloopt. Aan de achterzijde heeft het lage bouwvolume op iedere verdieping drie rechthoekige vensters. Het hogere bouwvolume heeft op de verdieping onder een hijsbalk een ijzeren pakhuisluik.

Description
At the height of the main entrance of the scarp building, situated on the outer ring of the fort, lift building annex garage workshop. The building is constructed on a rectangular floor plan, partly in rendered brick and partly with a concrete structure. The building has a flat roof and an overhanging concrete roof edge. The windows are set in steel profiles and provided with the same glazing bars. The left building volume with the lift is constructed half a storey higher than the garage workshop to the right of it. The building has on the front side, in the facade parallel to the street, two arched double iron garage doors under a concrete canopy. On the storey above the left garage door a rectangular window is inserted. Above the right garage door a strip window begins, which - running north - continues to the end of this facade. Above the left garage door, where the strip window ends, a concrete cornice string begins, which runs around the building. On the rear side the low building volume has on each storey three rectangular windows. The higher building volume has on the storey below a lifting beam an iron warehouse shutter.
