Inleiding
OFFICIERSMESS/KANTINEGEBOUW voor het Hoekse garnizoen deel uitmakend van complex fort Aan den Hoek van Holland. Het eerste deel werd in 1916 gebouwd in een sobere eclectische stijl; later werd het gebouw aan de noordzijde met een aantal vensterassen en een serre uitgebreid.
Omschrijving
Kantinegebouw, in twee fasen gebouwd op een L-vormige plattegrond, opgetrokken in donkerrode baksteen. Het gebouw is onderkelderd, telt één bouwlaag en heeft een plat dak met een overkragende geprofileerde daklijst. De hoofdingang van het gebouwtje, een geprofileerde houten deur met bovenlicht, bevindt zich in het midden van de straatzijde en wordt geflankeerd door links drie hoge schuifvensters met negenruits bovenlichten en oorspronkelijk houten luiken aan de onderzijde van de vensters.

OFFICERS' MESS/CANTEEN BUILDING for the Hoek garrison forming part of the complex fort aan den Hoek van Holland. The first part was built in 1916 in a sober eclectic style; later the building was extended on the north side with a number of window bays and a conservatory.
Description
Canteen building, built in two phases on an L-shaped floor plan, constructed in dark-red brick. The building is cellared, has one storey and a flat roof with an overhanging moulded cornice. The main entrance of the small building, a moulded wooden door with a fanlight, is situated in the middle of the street side and is flanked on the left by three tall sash windows with nine-paned fanlights and originally wooden shutters at the bottom of the windows.
Valuation
Canteen building, built in two phases at the beginning of the twentieth century in a sober eclectic style. As a historically-functional component of the complex Fort aan den Hoek van Holland of general importance on account of cultural-historical value.
