Inleiding
WACHTGEBOUW, deel uitmakend van het complex Fort aan den Hoek van Holland, in twee fasen gebouwd in een sobere eclectische stijl. N.B. Na de oorlog is het gebouw lange tijd als combuis gebruikt geweest. Op dit moment bevindt zich in het gebouw een timmerwerkplaats van de Marechaussee.
Omschrijving
Op een rechthoekig plattegrond, in rode baksteen opgetrokken wachtgebouw van één bouwlaag en een plat dak, met gemetselde rollagen boven de rechthoekige, zesledige vensters. De kozijnen van vensters en deuren zijn van hout. Rondom het dak loopt een houten daklijst. In het gebouw bevinden zich nog de oorspronkelijke cellen voor gestrafte militairen.
Waardering
Laat negentiende eeuws wachtgebouw, als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het complex Fort aan den Hoek van Holland van algemeen belang wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde.

GUARD HOUSE, forming part of the complex Fort aan den Hoek van Holland, built in two phases in a sober eclectic style. N.B. After the war the building was used as a galley for a long time. Currently the building houses a carpentry workshop of the Marechaussee.
Description
On a rectangular floor plan, guard house constructed in red brick with one storey and a flat roof, with brick-laid roll-courses above the rectangular, six-paned windows. The frames of windows and doors are of wood. Around the roof runs a wooden cornice. The building still contains the original cells for punished military personnel.
Valuation
Late nineteenth-century guard house, as a historically-functional component of the complex Fort aan den Hoek van Holland of general importance on account of architectural and cultural-historical value.
