ZONNEWIJZER OP BASEMENT behorende tot de buitenplaats Nijenhuis.
Centraal in een door Poortman ontworpen neo-formeel perk in de as van het huis (achterzijde) staat een beschilderde smeedijzeren zonnewijzer op een hardstenen basement. De zonnewijzer wordt bekroond door een wapenschild met daarop afgebeeld het wapen van de Schimmelpennincks, twee sleutels. De zonnewijzer dateert uit de 19de of het begin van de 20ste eeuw. Het weelderige, naar onderen uitbuikende, hardstenen basement op vierkante grondslag is gedecoreerd met régence snijwerk. Het basement moet gedateerd worden tussen het midden van de 18de eeuw en het einde van de 19de eeuw (régence of neo-régence). Dit ensemble maakt onlosmakelijk deel uit van de tuinaanleg van Poortman uit 1889. Of het er al was, of dat het ten behoeve van de aanleg werd aangeschaft is niet bekend.

SUNDIAL ON BASEMENT belonging to the country estate Nijenhuis.
Central to a neo-formal bed designed by Poortman in the axis of the house (rear side) stands a painted wrought iron sundial on a sandstone basement. The sundial is crowned by a coat of arms bearing the arms of the Schimmelpennincks, two keys. The sundial dates from the 19th or the beginning of the 20th century. The luxuriant, outward-bulging sandstone basement on square plan is decorated with régence carved work. The basement should be dated between the middle of the 18th century and the end of the 19th century (régence or neo-régence). This ensemble forms an inseparable part of Poortman's garden layout of 1889. Whether it was already there or was acquired for the purposes of the layout is not known.
