KADEMUREN GRACHT behorende tot de buitenplaats Nijenhuis.
De kademuren rond de gracht dateren uit 1889. In dat jaar werd de gracht achter en opzij van het huis verlegd en vergraven naar een neo-formeel ontwerp van de tuinarchitect Hugo Poortman. De muren zijn gemetseld van rode baksteen en worden afgesloten door een dekrand van Bentheimer steen. Op regelmatige afstand springen de muren iets uit, ook daar waar ze in- of uitzwenken. Deze plaatsen worden gemarkeerd door een hogere Bentheimer afdeksteen. De dekstenen op de in- en uitzwenkende hoeken waren bedoeld als basement voor ornamentele vazen (brief Poortman aan Schimmelpenninck 16 mei 1889: '...; toch moeten de hoeken zooals ik aangaf door iets, scherp geteekend worden.'). Op de andere dekstenen konden ronde ballen van Bentheimer steen geplaatst worden (zelfde brief). Tegenwoordig staan op vier van deze stenen tuinvazen in de vorm van verweerde urnen.

De KADEMUREN GRACHT behorende tot de buitenplaats Nijenhuis zijn van algemeen belang:

Description
QUAY WALLS CANAL belonging to the country estate Nijenhuis.
The quay walls surrounding the canal date from 1889. In that year the canal behind and beside the house was diverted and excavated according to a neo-formal design by landscape architect Hugo Poortman. The walls are built of red brick and are finished with a coping of Bentheimer stone. At regular intervals the walls project slightly, also where they curve inward or outward. These places are marked by a higher Bentheimer coping stone. The coping stones on the inward and outward curving corners were intended as a basement for ornamental vases (letter Poortman to Schimmelpenninck 16 May 1889: '...; nevertheless the corners as I indicated must be sharply marked by something.'). On the other coping stones round balls of Bentheimer stone could be placed (same letter). Today garden vases in the form of weathered urns stand on four of these stones.
