TWEE KERAMISCHE BLAUW GEGLAZUURDE TUINVAZEN (WEERSZIJDEN BORDESTRAP ACHTERZIJDE) behorende tot de buitenplaats Nijenhuis.
Ter weerszijden van de bordestrap naar het verhoogde terras achter het huis bevinden zich op de beginbalusters van de stenen balustrade Franse blauw geglazuurde keramische tuinvazen uit de 19de eeuw. De kelkvormige vazen staan op een voet welke gedecoreerd is met een parellijst. De rand van de vazen is gedecoreerd met een kraallijst en een bundellijst waartussen een patroon van vlechtwerk is aangebracht. Op het gladde middendeel bevindt zich aan de voor- en achterzijde een medaillon, versierd met een guirlande. Onder de beide schelpvormige handvaten leeuwenkoppen met een ring door de bek; op de handvaten putti, zij leunen met hun ellebogen op de rand van de vaas. De vazen waren al voor de aanleg van Poortman (1889) aanwezig en stonden aanvankelijk op "de zuilen der stoep vóór het huis" (brief Schimmelpenninck aan Poortman 4 mei 1889). De huidige plaats kwam in overleg met Poortman tot stand (brief Poortman aan Schimmelpenninck 9 augustus 1889).

Description
TWO CERAMIC BLUE GLAZED GARDEN VASES (EITHER SIDE OF BORDESTRAP REAR) belonging to the country estate Nijenhuis.
On either side of the bordestrap leading to the raised terrace behind the house, French blue glazed ceramic garden vases from the 19th century are positioned on the corner balusters of the stone balustrade. The chalice-shaped vases stand on a foot which is decorated with a pearl moulding. The rim of the vases is decorated with a bead moulding and a bundle moulding between which a basketwork pattern is applied. On the smooth middle section there is a medallion on the front and rear sides, adorned with a garland. Below both shell-shaped handles are lion heads with a ring through the mouth; on the handles are putti, leaning with their elbows on the rim of the vase. The vases were already present before the laying out of Poortman (1889) and initially stood on "the pillars of the stoop in front of the house" (letter Schimmelpenninck to Poortman 4 May 1889). The current location came about in consultation with Poortman (letter Poortman to Schimmelpenninck 9 August 1889).
