Omschrijving
Het GRAFMONUMENT (klasse 1, vak 36, nr. 42 A) van portrettiste Thérèse van Duyl-Schwartze (1852-1918); in oorsprong opgericht in 1922 op Zorgvlied en in de jaren '60 overgebracht naar de Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats. Het grafmonument is ontworpen door haar zuster Georgine Schwartze en in Carrarisch marmer door J.P. Maas in Haarlem vervaardigd. Het grafteken bestaat uit een met een draperie bedekte tombe waarop de dode levensgroot ligt opgebaard met papavers in de hand.
Waardering
Grafmonument van de nationaal bekende portrettiste Thérèse Schwartze uit 1922, behorend tot de Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats en als zodanig van algemeen belang wegens cultuur-, kunst- en funerair-historische waarde. Tevens van belang in het sculpturale oeuvre van Georgine Schwartze.

Description
The GRAVE MONUMENT (class 1, section 36, no. 42 A) of portrait painter Thérèse van Duyl-Schwartze (1852-1918); originally erected in 1922 at Zorgvlied and transferred to the Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats in the 1960s. The grave monument was designed by her sister Georgine Schwartze and executed in Carrara marble by J.P. Maas in Haarlem. The gravestone consists of a tomb covered with a drapery on which the deceased lies in state life-size with poppies in her hand.
