Het GRAFMONUMENT (klasse 1, vak 36, nrs. 12 t/m 15) van G.F. Westerman (1807-1890); bekend als een van de oprichters van het Genootschap Natura Artis Magistra, dier- en plantkundige van internationale vermaardheid. Het grafmonument, in oorsprong opgericht op de Oude Oosterbegraafplaats in 1891, en overgebracht naar de Nieuwe, is een ontwerp van J.F. Klinkhamer en bestaat uit een natuurstenen graftombe, waarop een liggende hond in brons vervaardigd, naar een ontwerp van de uit Antwerpen afkomstige J. Verdonck en een door geornamenteerde zuilen geflankeerde piëdestal met plaquette en een halfrond fronton met omkranst portretmedaillon in reliëf. Het sierlijke smeedijzeren hekwerk staat op een natuurstenen plint met gebeeldhouwde consoles bij de hoekpijlers.

Description
The GRAVE MONUMENT (class 1, section 36, nos. 12 to 15) of G.F. Westerman (1807-1890); known as one of the founders of the Society Natura Artis Magistra, zoologist and botanist of international renown. The grave monument, originally erected at the Oude Oosterbegraafplaats in 1891 and transferred to the Nieuwe, is a design by J.F. Klinkhamer and consists of a natural stone burial chamber, on which a reclining dog in bronze made, designed by J. Verdonck from Antwerp, and a pedestal flanked by ornamented columns with plaque and a hemicircular pediment with wreathed portrait medallion in relief. The elegant wrought iron railing stands on a natural stone plinth with sculptured consoles at the corner pillars.
