Omschrijving
GRAFMONUMENT (klasse 1, vak 22, nr. 17) van de nationaal bekende letterkundige E.J. Potgieter (1808-1875), oprichter van De Gids, overgebracht van de Westerbegraafplaats. Het grafmonument bestaat uit een schuinoplopende liggende zerk met inscriptie en een piëdestal met de naam Potgieter, waarboven een hardstenen aedicula met een marmeren borstbeeld van de dichter, vervaardigd door F. Stracké; op de sokkel een lauwerkrans, op het fronton drie zespuntige sterren in reliëf.

Description
GRAVE MONUMENT (class 1, section 22, no. 17) of the nationally known man of letters E.J. Potgieter (1808-1875), founder of De Gids, transferred from the Westerbegraafplaats. The grave monument consists of a sloping recumbent stone with inscription and a pedestal with the name Potgieter, above which a sandstone aedicula with a marble bust of the poet, made by F. Stracké; on the base a laurel wreath, on the pediment three six-pointed stars in relief.
