Omschrijving
Het GRAFMONUMENT (klasse 3, vak 17, nr. 268) van Klaas Ris (1821-1902), voorman van de Amsterdamse arbeidersbeweging. Het grafmonument van rode zandsteen dateert uit 1902 en is vervaardigd door de firma Van Tetterode. Op een sokkel staat een ingezwenkte grafsteen, waarin het omkranste portret van de overledene in hoogreliëf, bekroond door een brandende toorts. Het graf wordt omheind door eenvoudige kettingen tussen natuurstenen pijlers met ezelsrug-afdekking.
Waardering
Grafmonument voor Klaas Ris uit 1902, behorend tot de Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats en als zodanig van algemeen belang wegens cultuur-, sociaal- en funerair-historische waarde.

Description
The GRAVE MONUMENT (class 3, section 17, no. 268) of Klaas Ris (1821-1902), leader of the Amsterdam workers' movement. The grave monument of red sandstone dates from 1902 and was made by the firm Van Tetterode. On a base stands a recessed gravestone, in which the wreathed portrait of the deceased in high relief, crowned by a burning torch. The grave is enclosed by simple chains between natural stone pillars with saddle-back coping.
