Omschrijving onderdeel 8: KOETSHUIS
Voormalig koetshuis op het complex historische buitenplaats Berkenrode. Op de kaart van de parkaanleg van 1847 staat ter plaatse van dit voormalige koetshuis eveneens een gebouw aangegeven. Dit gebouw lijkt zich te bevinden op de plaats van de zuidelijke bijgebouwen op het voorplein van het voormalige kasteel. Wellicht herbergt het voormalige koetshuis nog restanten hiervan. Overigens is het gebouw ten behoeve van de herbestemming als woonhuis in de twintigste eeuw zeer ingrijpend gewijzigd. Het exterieur vertoont vooral aan de oostzijde en noordzijde nog kenmerken van het oorspronkelijke gebouw. Dit duidt, gezien de getoogde vensters en geblokte hoeklisenen op een datering rond 1850, hoewel een steen in de zijgevel van de stal als bouwjaar 1903 aangeeft. Mogelijk betreft dit een verbouwing of uitbreiding. Het gebouw is voorts één bouwlaag hoog gedekt met een samengesteld pannengedekt zadeldak. Het geheel is gepleisterd.
Waardering
Het voormalige koetshuis is van algemeen belang vanwege:

Description component 8: COACH-HOUSE
Former coach-house on the complex of historic country house Berkenrode. On the map of the park layout of 1847 a building is similarly indicated at the location of this former coach-house. This building appears to be located at the site of the southern outbuildings on the forecourt of the former castle. The former coach-house may possibly still contain remnants of these. Furthermore, the building has been substantially altered in the twentieth century for conversion to a dwelling. The exterior still shows characteristics of the original building, especially on the east side and north side. This suggests, given the arched windows and rusticated corner strips, a dating around 1850, although a stone in the side wall of the stable gives 1903 as the building date. This may possibly be a reconstruction or extension. The building is furthermore one storey high and roofed with a composite tile-clad gabled roof. The whole is rendered.
Valuation
The former coach-house is of general importance because of:
- its (original) functional significance for the country house;
- because of its location at the site of the former eighteenth-century service buildings and the possible remnants of these.
