Inleiding
GRAF Janssens-van Spaendonck uit 1922 in Art-Deco stijl, door steenhouwer/beeldhouwer L. Petit (signering op kleine paal aan de voorkant). Het graf, genummerd CD/19, is gemaakt voor: Johannes Laurentius Janssens (*13- 3-1852 +22-2-1922) en Maria Johanna van Spaendonck (*24-11-1860 +10-11-1932).
Johannes Janssens, zoon van Laurens Janssens en Elisabeth van Buren, was wollenstoffenfabrikant en medefirmant van Janssens van Buren. Hij trouwde op 27 januari 1892 met Maria van Spaendonck, dochter van Franciscus van Spaendonck en Anna Lippmann.
Omschrijving
Het grafmonument bestaat uit een granieten vloer, die omgeven wordt door een balustrade, eveneens van graniet. De hogere achterzijde heeft een bronzen voorstelling van een Engel des Oordeels. Links en rechts hiervan een zwartgranieten inscriptieplaat, waarop naast de namen de volgende tekst: "mijn Jezus barmhartigheid" en "H. Hart uw rijk kome". De balustrade, die aan de voorzijde gedeeltelijk open is, heeft op de hoeken paaltjes die aan de bovenzijde bewerkt zijn. De paaltjes aan de voorzijde zijn voorzien van vogels. De paaltjes aan de achterzijde dragen een lauwerkrans met Christusmonogram.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme in de negentiende eeuw, in het bijzonder de stichting van kerken ter plaatse van oudere schuurkerken en de katholieke grafcultuur. Johannes Janssens, son of Laurens Janssens and Elisabeth van Buren, was a woollen fabrics manufacturer and partner in Janssens van Buren. He married on 27 January 1892 Maria van Spaendonck, daughter of Franciscus van Spaendonck and Anna Lippmann.
Description
The grave monument consists of a granite floor, which is surrounded by a balustrade, also of granite. The higher rear side has a bronze representation of an Angel of Judgement. To the left and right of this a black granite inscription plate, on which next to the names the following text: "my Jesus mercy" and "H. Heart your kingdom come". The balustrade, which is partially open on the front side, has at the corners posts which are worked at the top. The posts at the front side are provided with birds. The posts at the rear side bear a laurel wreath with Christ monogram.

The object is of general importance. It has cultural-historical significance as a special expression of the development of Catholicism in the nineteenth century, in particular the establishment of churches in place of older barn churches and Catholic grave culture.
