Inleiding
GRAF Theresia Mannaerts uit 1901 door steenhouwer/beeldhouwer L. Petit (signering op sokkel rechtsboven). Het graf, genummerd E 15, is gemaakt voor Theresia Mannaerts (*29-7-1901 +?-8-1901), dochter van de familie J.D. Mannaerts-Pieters.
Omschrijving
Het graf bevat een keramische engel, die knielt, half hurkend, op een hardstenen sokkel. In de linkerhand een lauwerkrans, de rechterhand op de borst. Aan de voorzijde van de sokkel een witmarmeren plaat, waarop de graftekst.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme in de negentiende eeuw, in het bijzonder de stichting van kerken ter plaatse van oudere schuurkerken en de katholieke grafcultuur. Description
The grave contains a ceramic angel, which kneels, half crouching, on a sandstone base. In the left hand a laurel wreath, the right hand on the chest. On the front of the base a white marble plaque, on which the grave inscription.
Valuation
The object is of general importance. It has cultural-historical significance as a particular expression of the development of Catholicism in the nineteenth century, in particular the establishment of churches in place of older barn churches and Catholic grave culture. It has ensemble values as part of a larger whole, the cemetery on the Goirkestraat, which is of national importance in cultural-historical, architectural-historical and urban planning terms; also because of its location, connected with the development of the city and the special significance of the complex for the appearance of the city.
