Inleiding
De BELUCHTINGSTANK bevindt zich langs de hoofdverbindingsas en ten zuiden van het bezinkbassin. Hij is onderdeel van de proefopstelling van Dr. Penschuck uit 1927. Hij wordt anno 1998 alleen nog gebruikt bij overmatige regenval.
Omschrijving
De beluchtingstank bestaat uit een grote, open betonnen bak op rechthoekig grondplan die zeven meter diep is en net boven het maaiveld uitsteekt. De bak wordt in twee gelijke helften gedeeld door een langswand. Boven de scheidingswand is een betonnen loopbrug aangebracht met stalen balustrade. Aan beide zijden van de scheidingswand en net onder de loopbrug zijn Kessener-borstels aangebracht, bestaande uit stalen kammen, die al draaiende zorgen voor de beluchting van het ingebrachte water. Het water wordt afgevoerd via de overstortrand en een afvoergoot aan de binnenzijde van de tankwand. Tegen de scheidingswand, aan de oostelijke zijde van de tank is een ronddraaiende metalen trommel aangebracht, die een scheprad bevat en dient voor het inbrengen van kleine hoeveelheden actief slib uit de nabezinkbak, ten behoeve van de bacteriologische reiniging.

Introduction
The AERATION TANK is located along the main connecting axis and south of the settling tank. It is part of the experimental installation of Dr. Penschuck from 1927. As of 1998, it is only used in case of excessive rainfall.
Description
The aeration tank consists of a large, open concrete basin on rectangular ground plan which is seven metres deep and projects slightly above ground level. The basin is divided into two equal halves by a longitudinal wall. Above the dividing wall a concrete walkway is provided with steel balustrade. On both sides of the dividing wall and just below the walkway are Kessener brushes installed, consisting of steel combs, which as they rotate provide aeration of the introduced water. The water is discharged via the spillway edge and a discharge channel on the inner side of the tank wall. Against the dividing wall, on the eastern side of the tank, a rotating metal drum is installed, which contains a paddle wheel and serves for the introduction of small quantities of active sludge from the secondary settling tank, for the purpose of bacteriological purification.
