Inleiding
De NABEZINKBAK, die is gelegen naast de beluchtingstank maakt eveneens deel uit van de proefopstelling van 1927 en diende om het slib van het beluchte water te laten bezinken. Hij wordt anno 1998 alleen nog gebruikt bij overmatige regenval.
Omschrijving
De nabezinkbak van het Dortmund-type bestaat uit een open, zeven meter diepe betonnen bak, die is opgedeeld in vier verdiepte en taps toelopende slibputten. Uit het centrum van de bak steekt een betonnen verdeelpunt omhoog, dat het inkomende water over de vier slibputten verdeelt. Vanaf de westzijde loopt een loopbrug, voorzien van een ijzeren balustrade, naar het centrum. Uit de vier slibputten steekt een betonnen inlaat omhoog, die ieder door twee betonnen dwarsspanten met de buitenwand zijn verbonden. Aan de binnenwand van de nabezinkbak is een overstortgoot aangebracht voor de afvoer van het gezuiverde water. Buiten de bak en onder het plaveisel ligt de afvoergoot voor het neergeslagen slib, dat door buisleidingen onderuit de verdiepte putten en onder druk van het water wordt afgevoerd. Een deel van het afgevoerde slib wordt terug geschept in de beluchtingstank.

The secondary settling tank of the Dortmund type consists of an open, seven metre deep concrete tank, which is divided into four sunken and tapered sludge pits.
