Inleiding
Het VOORBELUCHTINGSBASSIN annex de VETVANGER uit 1937 bevindt zich tenoosten van het bezinkbassin. Het door het rioolgemaal opgepompte water (dat tegenwoordig vervolgens door de zandvang gaat) wordt hierin blootgesteld aan de lucht, zodat oxidatie kan plaatsvinden en werd vervolgens ontdaan van het vet dat kwam bovendrijven. De laatste bewerking vindt nu niet meer plaats. Het wordt nu alleen nog gebruikt bij overmatige regenval. Van hier gaat het water naar het bezinkbassin.
Omschrijving
Het voorbeluchtingsbassin met de vetvanger bestaat uit een tweetal grote open betonnen bakken op rechthoekig grondplan, die haaks op elkaar staan. Zij zijn boven het maaiveld opgesteld.
De waterinvoer bevindt zich aan de bovenzijde van het voorbeluchtingsbassin en loopt uit in een verhoogd betonnen plateautje, waardoor bij instroom van water cascadewerking optreedt. De vetvanger is iets lager en haaks op het voorbeluchtingsbassin gelegen. Aan de open bovenzijde zijn betonnen dwarsspanten aangebracht. De installatie om het vet af te scheppen is reeds geamoveerd.
In de oksel van beide bakken bevindt zich een betonnen klokkast, waarin zich een klok bevindt die diende om de uitstroom naar de (inmiddels geamoveerde) meetgoot te meten.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van een pioniersfase in de rioolwaterzuivering. Het is illustratief omdat de funktie goed aan de gebouwde objecten is af te lezen en heeft daarmee een hoge getuigende waarde. Het object is nog voldoende herkenbaar en gaaf bewaard gebleven. Het is zeldzaam als voorbeeld van het type voorbeluchtingstank met vetvanger. De samenhang met de andere voorgedragen objecten maakt de procesgang inzichtelijk.

The PRE-AERATION BASIN together with the FAT TRAP from 1937 is located southeast of the settling basin. The water pumped up by the sewage pumping station (which nowadays subsequently passes through the sand trap) is exposed to air in this basin, so that oxidation can take place and was then freed of the fat that floated to the surface. The latter operation no longer takes place. It is now only used in case of excessive rainfall. From here the water goes to the settling basin.
Description
The pre-aeration basin with the fat trap consists of two large open concrete tanks on a rectangular ground plan, which stand at right angles to each other. They are positioned above ground level.
