Inleiding
De voormalige DIENSTWONING is ontworpen door J. F. Metzelaar voor de onderdirecteur van de strafgevangenis. De woning ligt links van het poortgebouw van de gevangenis. Voor de directeur werd een identieke gespiegelde woning gebouwd rechts naast de gevangenispoort, nu Nassausingel 25.
Omschrijving
Woning op een globaal T-vormige grondslag, opgetrokken in baksteen met imitatie-speklagen in gele steen. Boven vensters en deuren is gele steen in blokmotief verwerkt. Het pand telt twee bouwlagen en een kapverdieping onder samengesteld schilddak gedekt met gesmoorde pannen.
De voorgevel heeft een asymmetrische opzet met links een naar voren gelegen deel, afgesloten met een topgevel. In deze partij twee grote, driedelige vensters met bovenlicht en in de top een rondboogvormig afgesloten venster. Het rechterdeel van de voorgevel ligt meer naar achteren en is voorzien van smalle vensters. In de oksel van het gebouw de entree. De andere gevels bevatten vensters in verschillende vormen. De consoles van de goten zijn van beton.
