Omschrijving
Inleiding.

Description
Introduction.
In the extension of the farmhouse and built onto it, there is the CANTEEN, which was likewise built around 1903 and corresponds in building style with the farmhouse. This building is, however, more richly detailed, has a different window arrangement, a lower gabled roof and is separated on the attic storey from the farmhouse.
Description.
The canteen building is built on a rectangular ground plan with an extension at the rear. It consists of one storey of machine-made brick in English bond. The gabled roof, covered with pantiles, runs across the entire length of the building, with the exception of the bay at the far right. The facade is made up of eleven bays, of which ten are provided with windows and one with a door. The windows consist of six-pane wooden sash windows under a light segmental arch. The segmental arches are filled with decorative brickwork of red and yellow machine-made brick. The springers and keystones in the segmental arches are of yellow brick. The undersides and topsides of the windows are connected by a speck course, consisting of yellow bricks, which runs through into the side facade. Under the eaves gutter is a brick decorative moulding.
The extension at the rear consists of three parts. The left section is five bays long and two wide, under a flat roof. The facade composition and detailing is the same as that of the front facade. In extension of this is an extension which is three bays long and one bay wide, and lies under a flat roof which is lower than that of the aforementioned section.
In the right bay there are round windows with four segmental lights. In the middle bay a door is installed. In the bay in width a four-pane opening window is installed. In the corner of both extensions a third section is built, one bay long and one bay wide, under a flat roof which is again lower than the aforementioned one. In the bay in width a four-pane window is installed, flanked on both sides by a two-pane window.
Valuation.
The canteen is of general interest. The building has cultural-historical value as an expression of the development of Catholic care for the mentally disabled and the less privileged in the period of Catholic revival. It is a representative of the landscape development, whereby such complexes were placed in rural areas according to a regular, functional ground plan. The building has architectural-historical value as a representative of the Craft-Traditional style. It is well preserved and is a typical component of the spatial development near the church village of Biezenmortel to the east of the centre of Udenhout.
