Inleiding.
Op de 'kinderafdeling' van de katholieke begraafplaats aan de Bredaseweg staat het GRAFMONUMENT voor Carolus C.B.F. Pessers, gestorven 26 oktober 1921. Het grafmonument heeft elementen van de Art Déco.
Omschrijving.
Op een rechte hardstenen basis met sokkel met opschrift '... aan onze / lieveling / Carolus Cornelis / Pessers / geb. te Tilburg 25 mei 1920 / aldaar overleden 26 oct. 1921' staat een in marmer uitgevoerde gestyleerde engel. De engel laat de gevouwen handen rusten op een voor hem staand kruis. De vleugels sluiten aan op het hoofddeksel van de engel. Voor dit geheel een aflopende zerk waarvan de oorspronkelijke dekplaat ontbreekt. Rechtsvoor op de zerk de signatuur 'L. Petit'.
Waardering.
Het monument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de katholieke grafcultuur. Het is tevens van belang vanwege de typologie, de uitvoering en de uniciteit van het geheel. Bovendien is het van belang als onderdeel van een groter geheel dat cultuurhistorisch, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig van belang is als eerste katholieke begraafplaats van Tilburg.

On a straight hardstone base with plinth bearing the inscription '... to our / beloved / Carolus Cornelis / Pessers / born in Tilburg 25 May 1920 / died there 26 Oct. 1921' stands a stylised angel executed in marble. The angel rests its folded hands on a cross standing before it. The wings adjoin the angel's headdress. In front of this whole is a sloping gravestone of which the original cover slab is missing. On the front right of the gravestone the signature 'L. Petit'.
Valuation.
The monument is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular Catholic burial culture. It is also of importance by virtue of its typology, execution and uniqueness as a whole.
