Inleiding.
Op de 'kinderafdeling' van de katholieke begraafplaats aan de Bredaseweg staat het GRAFMONUMENT voor de op 26 december 1903 overleden R. Mutsaerts. Het monument is vervaardigd door L. Petit.
Omschrijving.
Grafmonument bestaande uit een gebeeldhouwde figuur op een sokkel. Op een hardstenen basis staat een hoge witmarmeren sokkel met afgeschuinde hoeken en voorzien van een geprofileerd basement met dekplaat. Hierop een lage basis waarop een zuiltrommel met geprofileerde randen. Op de trommel zit een engel, de benen gekruist, met het hoofd rustend op de linkerhand, in de rechterhand een roos. Op de sokkel het opschrift 'Aan onzen / lieveling / Rene Mutsaerts / geb. 2 oct. / overl. 26 dec. / 1903'. Op de sokkel rechtsonder de signatuur 'L. Petit'.
Waardering.
Het monument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de katholieke grafcultuur en is tevens van belang vanwege de typologie en de uniciteit van het object. Bovendien is het van belang als onderdeel van een groter geheel dat cultuurhistorisch, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig van belang is als eerste katholieke begraafplaats van Tilburg.

Grave monument consisting of a sculptured figure on a plinth. On a freestone base stands a high white marble plinth with chamfered corners and provided with a moulded base with cover plate. On it a low base on which a column drum with moulded edges. On the drum sits an angel, legs crossed, with the head resting on the left hand, in the right hand a rose. On the plinth the inscription 'To our / dear one / Rene Mutsaerts / born 2 Oct. / died 26 Dec. / 1903'. On the plinth bottom right the signature 'L. Petit'.
Valuation.
The monument is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular Catholic grave culture and is moreover of importance because of the typology and the uniqueness of the object. Moreover it is of importance as part of a larger whole that is of cultural-historical, architectural and urban planning importance as the first Catholic cemetery of Tilburg.
