Inleiding.
De GRAFKAPEL voor de familie Van Spaendonck-Brouwers werd door de firma L. Petit uit Tilburg omstreeks 1925 geplaatst op de katholieke begraafplaats aan de Bredaseweg. De in graniet uitgevoerde kapel heeft neoclassicistische elementen. De hier begraven overledenen behoorden tot de bankiersfamilies Van Spaendonck en Brouwers.
Omschrijving.
Geheel in grijs graniet uitgevoerde grafkapel met aan weerszijden een muur met opschriften. De grafkapel op vierkant grondplan heeft ingebogen hoeken. In de voorgevel een rechthoekige ingang met eenvoudige omlijsting waarin een bronzen opengewerkte, deels beglaasde deur. De deur heeft aan de onderzijde twee Andreaskruisen, een dicht middenpaneel en een bovenlicht met kruis in stralenkrans temidden van twee banden met achtpuntige sterren met roset. Boven de ingang, in reliëf de tekst 'IN MEMORIAM'. In de ingebogen hoeken van de kapel oculi met glas-in-lood vulling voorstellende de evangelistensymbolen. Links van de ingang de stier, aan de achterzijde de engel, rechts van de ingang de leeuw, aan de achterzijde de adelaar. De kapel heeft een octagonale overstekende geprofileerde kroonlijst waarop een ronde koepel met eveneens ronde lantaarn. De lantaarn wordt bekroond door een kruis. In de lantaarn vier oculi met glas-in-lood vulling met afbeeldingen van kruisen. De kapel heeft een granieten plint met rechtsonder aan de voorzijde de signatuur 'L. Petit'. Het geheel op een tweetredig plateau. De eerste verhoging heeft een granieten rand opgevuld met klinkers. Op deze verhoging eveneens twee lage witmarmeren boomkruisen. De tweede verhoging is geheel in graniet uitgevoerd. Aan weerszijden van de kapel een opstaande granieten muur met opschriften in reliëf. Op de linkermuur: 'Antonius Ign. Corn. / van Spaendonck / *19 juni 1868 / +20 october 1920 / Maria Th.F.C. v. Spaendonck / geb. Brouwers / *23 sept. 1865 / +19 maart 1933 / in leven vereenigd / gestorven niet gescheiden'. Op de rechtermuur: 'Henri M.J.C. Brouwers / *31 october 1859 / +24 juni 1932 / Antoinette A.M.C. Brouwers / *29 november 1853 / +13 juli 1937 / Lucie J.M.C. Family chapel executed entirely in grey granite with on both sides a wall with inscriptions. The chapel on a square ground plan has curved corners. In the front facade a rectangular entrance with simple surround containing a bronze openwork, partially glazed door. The door has on the lower side two St Andrew's crosses, a solid central panel and a fanlight with cross in a radiating wreath amid two bands with eight-pointed stars with rosette. Above the entrance, in relief the text 'IN MEMORIAM'. In the curved corners of the chapel oculi with leaded glass filling representing the evangelist symbols. To the left of the entrance the bull, on the rear the angel, to the right of the entrance the lion, on the rear the eagle. The chapel has an octagonal overhanging moulded cornice on which a round cupola with likewise round lantern. The lantern is crowned by a cross. In the lantern four oculi with leaded glass filling with images of crosses. The chapel has a granite plinth with on the bottom right of the front facade the signature 'L. Petit'. The whole on a two-tier platform. The first elevation has a granite edge filled with clinker bricks. On this elevation likewise two low white marble grave crosses. The second elevation is executed entirely in granite. On both sides of the chapel a standing granite wall with inscriptions in relief. On the left wall: 'Antonius Ign.
