Inleiding.
Op de katholieke begraafplaats aan de Bredaseweg staat het GRAFMONUMENT van het echtpaar Franken-De Beer. Het werd door de firma L. Petit te Tilburg omstreeks 1925 vervaardigd.
Omschrijving.
In graniet uitgevoerd grafmonument bestaande uit een tombe met opstand waarin een reliëf. Het grafmonument heeft een forse kelderzerk waarop een enigszins oplopende tombe met hardstenen dekplaat waarop in reliëf het opschrift 'Hier rust / in Christus / Franciscus / Corn. Aug. / Franken / geb. 12 maart / 1847 / overl. 2 maart / 1920 / Theresia / Maria / Antonia / de Beer / geb. 5 maart / 1850 / overl. 27 febr. / 1928'. Aan het hoofdeinde van de tombe een opstand in de vorm van een portico, bestaande uit een rechthoekige basis waarop een opbouw met nis, het geheel onder een vierzijdige rondbogige tympaan. Op het tympaan in laagreliëf een kruis in cirkel en de inscriptie '+resurrexit+'. In de nis een bronzen reliëf tonende een staande engel met de rechterhand opgeheven. Op de voet van het reliëf is nog leesbaar 'Kunst Bronsgieterij / De Kr...'. Het grafmonument is aan de voorzijde rechtsonder gesigneerd 'L. Petit'.
Waardering.
Het monument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de katholieke grafcultuur. Het is van belang vanwege de typologie en het materiaalgebruik door de toepassing van een bronzen reliëf in het monument. Het is bovendien van belang als onderdeel van een groter geheel dat cultuurhistorisch, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig van belang is als eerste katholieke begraafplaats in Tilburg.

Grave monument executed in granite consisting of a tomb with a structure containing a relief. The grave monument has a substantial sunken slab on which a slightly sloping tomb with a freestone cover plate on which in relief the inscription 'Here rests / in Christ / Franciscus / Corn. Aug. / Franken / born 12 March / 1847 / died 2 March / 1920 / Theresia / Maria / Antonia / de Beer / born 5 March / 1850 / died 27 Feb. / 1928'. At the head end of the tomb a structure in the form of a portico, consisting of a rectangular base on which a build-up with niche, the whole under a four-sided round-arch tympanum. On the tympanum in low relief a cross in circle and the inscription '+resurrexit+'. In the niche a bronze relief showing a standing angel with the right hand raised. On the foot of the relief is still legible 'Art Bronze Foundry / De Kr...'. The grave monument is signed bottom right on the front 'L. Petit'.
Valuation.
The monument is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular Catholic grave culture.
