Inleiding.
Op de Isralitische begraafplaats "Sombre Hadass" staat ten noordwesten van het (buiten de bescherming vallende) ontvangstgebouw een BINNENPOORT in Expressionistische stijl, daterende uit omstreeks 1920.
Omschrijving.
De poort bestaat uit een tweetal gemetselde pijlers, voorzien van lisenen en een getrapte gemetselde bekroning, waartussen een smeedijzeren tweedelig hekwerk, met in het smeedwerk naast davidsterren ook spiralen en krulmotieven. De zuidelijke en noordelijke pijler zijn voorzien van een plaquette met resp. een in het Hebreeuws en in het Nederlands gestelde inscriptie: "De heer Eliahu Karlin / en zijne kinderen / hebben deze poort / doen oprichten / ter herinnering aan hunne / echtgenoote en moeder / Matalia Tscherniak / overleden te London-Edmonton / den 26 Tebeth 5678 / 10 Januari 1918.
Waardering.
Het poortgebouw van de begraafplaats is van algemeen belang. Het heeftcultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de ontwikkeling van de joodse grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling. Het heeft architectuurhistorisch belang door de verzorgde detaillering.
Het heeft ensemblewaarden als onderdeel van een begraafplaats, die cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch van belang is als manifestatie van de geschiedenis van de joodse grafcultuur over onze landsgrenzen. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en uiterst zeldzaam.

Introduction.
On the Israelitic cemetery "Sombre Hadass" stands, to the north-west of the reception building (which falls outside the protection), an INNER GATE in Expressionist style, dating from around 1920.
Description.
The gate consists of two masonry piers, fitted with pilasters and a stepped masonry crown, between which is a wrought-iron two-part gate, with in the wrought-iron work besides Stars of David also spirals and scroll motifs. The southern and northern pier are fitted with a plaque with respectively an inscription in Hebrew and in Dutch: "The Honourable Eliahu Karlin / and his children / have had this gate / erected / in memory of his / wife and mother / Matalia Tscherniak / deceased in London-Edmonton / on the 26th of Tebeth 5678 / 10 January 1918.
Valuation.
The gate building of the cemetery is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of a social and spiritual development, namely the development of Jewish burial culture, it is also of importance for the typological development.
