Inleiding
Ten zuiden van de kruising van de spoorlijn Eindhoven-Venlo en het Kanaal van Deurne/Helenavaart/Defensiekanaal staat, langs het Kanaal van Deurne, de S (3a) flankerend KAZEMAT uit 1939-1940. De kazemat maakte deel uit van de hoofdweerstandslinie.
Omschrijving
De kazemat staat direct aan de westelijke zijde van het kanaal, en kan door de schietgaten flankerend en frontaal vuur op het kanaal en het directe voorterrein van het kanaal uitbrengen. De kazemat is gaaf bewaard gebleven en vertoont geen gevechtsschade. Ten gevolge van de slechte bodemgesteldheid is de op staal gefundeerde kazemat voorzien van een verzwaarde vloerplaat.
Waardering
De S-kazemat is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuur-historische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het is van architectuur- en bouwhistorisch belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de toepassing van moderne materialen en technieken, met name in de verwerking van gewapend beton. Het heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel, dat cultuurhistorisch van belang is en is van belang wegens de hoogwaardige kwaliteit van de bebouwing en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met wegen, wateren en bodemgesteldheid. South of the crossing of the railway line Eindhoven-Venlo and the Canal of Deurne/Helenavaart/Defence Canal, along the Canal of Deurne, stands the S (3a) flanking CASEMATE from 1939-1940. The casemate was part of the main line of resistance.

The casemate stands directly on the western side of the canal, and can bring flanking and frontal fire on the canal and the immediate foreground of the canal through the gun embrasures.
