Omschrijving
Inleiding
Ten zuidwesten van de kruising van de spoorlijn Eindhoven-Venlo en het Kanaal van Deurne/Helenavaart/Defensiekanaal staat, vrij in een akker en op enige afstand van het Kanaal van Deurne, de S (3a) flankerend KAZEMAT, daterende uit 1939-1940. De kazemat maakte deel uit van de hoofdweerstandslinie.
Omschrijving
De kazemat staat aan de westelijke zijde van het kanaal, dat ter plaatse nagenoeg haaks op de spoorlijn is getraceerd, en kan door het linker en middelste schietgat frontaal vuur op de kruising en het kanaal uitbrengen. Tevens kan flankerend vuur op het zuidelijke deel van het Kanaal van Deurne worden uitgebracht. De kazemat is gaaf bewaard gebleven en vertoont geen gevechtsschade. Ten gevolge van de slechte bodemgesteldheid is de op staal gefundeerde kazemat voorzien van een verzwaarde vloerplaat.
Waardering
De S-kazemat is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuur-historische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het is van architectuur- en bouwhistorisch belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de toepassing van moderne materialen en technieken, met name in de verwerking van gewapend beton. Het heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel, dat cultuurhistorisch van belang is en is van belangwegens de hoogwaardige kwaliteit van de bebouwing en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met wegen, wateren en bodemgesteldheid. Southwest of the crossing of the railway line Eindhoven-Venlo and the Kanaal van Deurne/Helenavaart/Defensiekanaal stands, free in a field and at some distance from the Kanaal van Deurne, the S (3a) flanking CASEMATE, dating from 1939-1940. The casemate formed part of the main resistance line.
Description
The casemate stands on the western side of the canal, which at this location is traced nearly at right angles to the railway line, and can provide frontal fire on the crossing and the canal through the left and middle loopholes. Flanking fire on the southern part of the Kanaal van Deurne can also be provided. The casemate has been well preserved and shows no combat damage. Due to poor soil conditions, the casemate, which is founded on steel, has been provided with a reinforced floor slab.

The S-casemate is of general importance.
