Inleiding
VOETSTUK van theekoepel van het type uitzichtkoepel, behorende bij de historische buitenplaats Raaphorst, is in 1791-1792 gebouwd op een kunstmatige heuvel in opdracht van mr. A.P. Twent (1745-1816). Uit een inventaris, opgemaakt na diens overlijden in 1816, wordt de theekoepel omschreven als "Het Koupeltje op de Berg van Raaphorst", waarvan het zeskantige voetstuk als bergplaats dienst deed. In de theekoepel stond een zeshoekige mahoniehouten tafel, zes stoelen met matten zitting, het mahoniehouten voetstuk van een kijker, een ingelegde theestoof en een vloermat. In de periode dat C.E.A. Petzold in opdracht van Z.K.H. prins Frederik der Nederlanden aan de buitenplaats werkte is de berg beplant met seringen. In de jaren '90 van de twintigste eeuw is de houten opbouw van de theekoepel vernieuwd.
Omschrijving
Op de top van de Seringenberg staat een zeskantige, gemetseld voetstuk gebouwd uit 1792, die onderdeel uitmaakte van een koepeltje (thans in gewijzigde staat aanwezig en niet beschermenswaardig).
Waardering
Het voetstuk van de tuinkoepel, behorende bij de historische buitenplaats Raaphorst, is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als typologisch markant en vrij zeldzaam object uit het einde van de achttiende eeuw. Het heeft ensemble en landschappelijke waarde door de beeldbepalende situering op de top van een berg. Introduction
PEDESTAL of tea pavilion of the type viewing pavilion, belonging to the historical country estate Raaphorst, was built in 1791-1792 on an artificial mound on commission of Mr. A.P. Twent (1745-1816). From an inventory, drawn up after his death in 1816, the tea pavilion is described as "Het Koupeltje op de Berg van Raaphorst", of which the hexagonal pedestal served as storage. In the tea pavilion stood a hexagonal mahogany table, six chairs with woven seating, the mahogany pedestal of a telescope, an inlaid tea stove and a floor mat. During the period when C.E.A. Petzold worked on the country estate on commission of H.R.H. Prince Frederick of the Netherlands, the mound was planted with lilacs. In the 1990s the wooden superstructure of the tea pavilion was renewed.
