onderdeel 9
DIENSTWONING MET PERGOLA EN TOEGANGSHEK behorend bij de historische buitenplaats De Paauw staan aan de Rijksstraatweg. De woning en hek zijn omstreeks 1840 opgetrokken waarschijnlijk naar ontwerp van J.D. Zocher jr. en in ca. 1853 vermoedelijk aangepast door architect Wentzel. DIENSTWONING van één bouwlaag op rechthoekige plattegrond onder flauw hellend zadeldak met Hollandse pannen. De nokrichting van het dak is evenwijdig aan de Rijksstraatweg. Gepleisterde wit gesausde gevels met grijs geschilderde plint. Vierruits stolpramen onder half ronde tweeruits bovenlichten en zesruits dubbel deuren. De vensteropeningen worden geflankeerd door houten pilasters. Symmetrische voorgevel (zuidoost) met entree in hoog opgaande middenpartij onder steekkap. Voor de eenvoudige deur onder afdak op gietijzeren kolommen een hardstenen stoep van drie treden. Tegen de rechter zijgevel (noordwest) een PERGOLA van in gele baksteen opgetrokken (oorspronkelijk dubbele rij) kolommen en houten liggers. Tussen de kolommen een spijlenhek als het toegangshek. In de geveltop een venster met halfrond bovenlicht. Onder het dakoverstek een koperen luidklokje. Aansluitend aan de rechterzijde het TOEGANGSHEK naar De Paauw (sinds 1912 naar de Pauwhof) bestaande uit een dubbel spijlenhek en twee dubbele zijhekken. Aan weerszijden van het hek een hardstenen pijler op geprofileerd voetstuk, afgesloten door een kroonlijst met afdekplaat waarop kelkvormige vaas met knorren. Halverwege de pijler een dubbele kordonlijst waartussen een rozet. De zijhekken worden aan de buitenzijde door een lagere pijler beëindigd, eveneens op een geprofileerd voetstuk en afgesloten door kroonlijst met piramidevormige afdekplaat. In het veld onder de kroonlijst eveneens een rozet, op dezelfde hoogte als de twee centrale pijlers. De hekken bestaan aan de onderzijde uit een veld met ijzeren raster in vierkanten met erboven spijlen met pijlpunten.
Waardering
De (voormalige) DIENSTWONING MET PERGOLA EN TOEGANGSHEK zijn in cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig opzicht van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de oorspronkelijke functie als dienstwoning op de buitenplaats De Paauw

SERVANTS' DWELLING WITH PERGOLA AND ENTRANCE GATE belonging to the historic country estate De Paauw stand on the Rijksstraatweg. The dwelling and gate were built around 1840 probably to a design by J.D. Zocher jr. and in ca. 1853 presumably adapted by architect Wentzel. SERVANTS' DWELLING of one storey on rectangular plan under gently sloping gabled roof with Dutch tiles. The roof ridge direction is parallel to the Rijksstraatweg. Rendered white-washed facades with grey-painted plinth. Four-pane casement windows under half-round two-pane fanlights and six-pane double doors. The window openings are flanked by wooden pilasters. Symmetrical front facade (south-east) with entrance in tall central section under a pent roof. Before the simple door under a canopy on cast-iron columns a hard stone step of three risers. Against the right side facade (north-west) a PERGOLA of yellow brick built columns (originally double row) and wooden lintels. Between the columns a spindle fence as the entrance gate. In the gable top a window with half-round fanlight. Under the roof overhang a copper hand bell. Adjoining the right side the ENTRANCE GATE to De Paauw (since 1912 to the Pauwhof) consisting of a double spindle gate and two double side gates. On either side of the gate a hard stone pillar on moulded plinth, finished with a cornice with cover plate on which a chalice-shaped vase with knobs. Halfway up the pillar a double cordon moulding with a rosette between. The side gates are terminated on the outside by a lower pillar, also on a moulded plinth and finished with cornice and pyramid-shaped cover plate. In the field under the cornice likewise a rosette, at the same height as the two central pillars. The gates consist at the lower part of a field with iron grid in squares with spindles with spear points above.
