Inleiding.
SPUISLUIS, aangelegd in 1929 en gebouwd in Functionalistische stijl.
Bij de sluis hoort een afwateringskanaal, dat terzelfdertijd parallel aan het Wilhelminakanaal werd gegraven en dient om overtollig water af te voeren.
Omschrijving.
De spuisluis bestaat uit een betonnen spuikom met twee heftorens op vierkante plattegrond, van wit geschilderd beton waarvan de bekisting zichtbaar gelaten is. De torens bevatten de electromotiren voor het bedienen van de hefdeuren. Tussen de torens bevinden zich de geklonken stalen hefdeuren, die door kettingen zijn verbonden met de contragewichten in de torens. In de heftorens bevinden zich stalen toegangsdeuren. De torens worden onderling verbonden door een stalen trekstang en een betonnen loopbrug.
De spuiskom heeft een geknikte vorm. De beschoeiïng is van beton.
Waardering.
De spuisluis is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling door het creeëren van een oost-westverbinding door middel van de aanleg van een kanaal in het zuiden van Nederland.
