St. Josephstraat ongenummerd
Inleiding.
BRUG, geslagen in 1923. De brug vormt de verbinding tussen de St. Josephstraat en de Moergestelseweg en maakt onderdeel uit van de sluis.
Omschrijving.
De brug is een ophaalbrug, bestaande uit stalen profielbalken met daarop vakwerkliggers, voorzien van klinknagels. Het ophaalmechanisme werkt door middel van stalen contragewichten. Het wegdek is vlak en met beton afgewerkt. Het is opgebouwd uit stalen vakwerkliggers. De landhoofden van de brug, tevens sluishoofden, zijn opgemetseld uit machinale baksteen en afgezet met afgeronde, granieten hoekblokken.
Waardering.
De brug is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling door het creëren van een oost-westverbinding door middel van de aanleg van een kanaal in het zuiden van Nederland. Het is tevens van belang als bijzonder voorbeeld van een technische ontwikkeling. Het heeft ensemblewaarden als onderdeel van een groter geheel, namelijk de infrastructuur samenhangend met het Wilhelminakanaal. De brug is gaaf bewaard gebleven.

The bridge is a bascule bridge, consisting of steel section beams with lattice girders mounted on them, fitted with rivets. The hoisting mechanism operates by means of steel counterweights. The road surface is flat and finished with concrete. It is constructed from steel lattice girders. The abutments of the bridge, also lock heads, are built up of machine-made brick and bordered with rounded granite corner blocks.
Valuation.
The bridge is of general importance. The object has cultural-historical values as an expression of a socio-economic development by creating an east-west connection by means of the construction of a canal in the south of the Netherlands. It is also of importance as a particular example of technical development. It has ensemble values as part of a larger whole, namely the infrastructure associated with the Wilhelmina Canal. The bridge has been preserved intact.
