Inleiding.
GRAFMONUMENT en familiegraf met grafkelder voor A. baron van Lamsweerde (1834-1909), diens vrouw M.C.J. van Lamsweerde-Koch (1839-1915) en enkele andere leden van de familie. Het in 1909 in Eclectische vormen opgetrokken grafmonument is gelegen aan de westelijke zijde van de bisschopskapel in sectie 21-13-02-05. Het geheel wordt omgeven door fraai gedetailleerde ijzeren paaltjes met kettingen.
Omschrijving.
Het grafmonument is omgeven door een hardstenen voetplaat met ijzeren paaltjes en kettingen. De tombe is centraal geplaatst en wordt geflankeerd door twee hardstenen grafplaten met daarop de namen van de overige overledenen. De tombe heeft een inspringend basement en een forse opgelegde grafplaat waarin cirkels met bas-reliëfs van een kruis en een rijk gedetailleerd familiewapen zijn aangebracht. Het monument heeft aan het hoofdeinde een halfhoge, getrapte stèle die eindigt in een met een kruis bekroonde rondboog waarin de epitaaf voor de eerst begravenen is uitgehakt. Bijzonder van vormgeving zijn de gietijzeren paaltjes die het graf omgeven. Deze worden naar boven toe steeds breder en zijn geornamenteerd met onder meer cannelures en bloemknoppen. De paaltjes staan met elkaar in verbinding door smeedijzeren schakelkettingen. Aan de rechterkant van de voorzijde zijn deze diagonaalsgewijs aangebracht met een gotiserend ijzeren kruis in het centrum. De kettingen linksvoor zijn verdwenen.
Waardering. Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang als illustratie van de typologische ontwikkeling van het grafmonument. Het graf heeft kunsthistorisch belang vanwege de hoge kwaliteit van de toegepaste eclectische ornamentiek. Het graf heeft ensemblewaarden als onderdeel van een groter geheel met cultuurhistorische, architectuurhistorische en typologische samenhang. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en typologisch zeldzaam.

GRAVE MONUMENT and family grave with grave vault for A. baron van Lamsweerde (1834-1909), his wife M.C.J. van Lamsweerde-Koch (1839-1915) and several other members of the family. The grave monument, erected in 1909 in Eclectic forms, is located on the western side of the bishop's chapel in section 21-13-02-05. The whole is surrounded by finely detailed iron bollards with chains.
Description.
The grave monument is surrounded by a hard stone base plate with iron bollards and chains. The tomb is centrally placed and is flanked by two hard stone grave slabs bearing the names of the other deceased. The tomb has a recessed basement and a substantial applied grave slab in which circles with bas-reliefs of a cross and a richly detailed family coat of arms are set. The monument has at the head end a half-high, stepped stele ending in a semicircular arch crowned with a cross in which the epitaph for the first buried is carved. Particularly noteworthy in design are the cast-iron bollards surrounding the grave. These become progressively wider towards the top and are ornamented with, among other things, fluting and flower buds. The bollards are connected to each other by wrought-iron link chains. On the right side of the front, these are arranged diagonally with a Gothicizing iron cross in the centre. The chains on the left front have disappeared.
Valuation. The grave monument is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Catholic grave culture, and it is also of importance as an illustration of the typological development of the grave monument. The grave has art-historical importance because of the high quality of the applied eclectic ornamentation. The grave has ensemble values as part of a larger whole with cultural-historical, architectural-historical and typological coherence. It has been preserved in good condition and is typologically rare.
