Inleiding.
GRAFMONUMENT voor P. Jean van Paesschen (1809-1887), in 1887 naar ontwerp van J. Bolsius opgetrokken in Eclectische stijl. Van Paesschen was de organist-componist van de Sint Jan. Het monument dat zich niet meer op de oorspronkelijke locatie bevindt, is gesitueerd aan de zuidoostelijke kant van de bisschopskapel in sectie 20.
Omschrijving.
Monument op vierkante grondslag met een zich steeds verjongend basement en met een obelisk-achtige opbouw, bekroond met een kruis. Aan drie van de zijden bevinden zich in reliëf aangebrachte platen met aan de voorzijde het opschrift: AAN P.JEAN van PAESSCHEN * 1809 + 1887 ZIJNE VEREERDERS EN ZIJNE VRIENDEN. Aan de zijkanten zijn aan een stenen uitsteeksel witmarmeren lauwerkransen opgehangen. Bovenbouw met aan de voorzijde een witmarmeren portretmedaillon met daaronder een palmtak. Uitspringende gedeeltes met palmetbekroning. De signatuur bevindt zich rechtsonder aan de voorzijde.
Waardering.
Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang als illustratie van de typologische ontwikkeling van het grafmonument. Het graf is van belang vanwege de plaats die de sculptuur inneemt binnen het oeuvre van de Bossche beeldhouwer J. Bolsius.
Het graf heeft kunsthistorisch belang vanwege de toegepaste eclectische ornamentiek. Het graf heeft ensemblewaarden als onderdeel van een groter geheel met cultuurhistorische, architectuurhistorische en typologische samenhang. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en typologisch zeldzaam.

Description.
Monument on a square base with a progressively tapering basement and an obelisk-like superstructure, crowned with a cross. On three of the sides there are relief-applied plates, on the front bearing the inscription: AAN P.JEAN van PAESSCHEN * 1809 + 1887 ZIJNE VEREERDERS EN ZIJNE VRIENDEN. On the sides, white marble laurel wreaths are suspended from stone projections. Upper structure with a white marble portrait medallion on the front, beneath which is a palm frond. Projecting sections with palmette cresting. The signature is located in the lower right on the front.
Valuation.
The grave monument is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a social and spiritual development, especially the development of Catholic funerary culture, and is also important as an illustration of the typological development of the grave monument.
