Inleiding
BegraafplaatsMUUR uit 1862, deel uitmakend van het rooms-katholiek kerkelijk complex St. Laurentius. De begraafplaats wordt aan de voorzijde door een muur waarin een toegangshek gescheiden van het Stroomerlaantje. Het muurgedeelte rechts (N) van het toegangshek is vermoedelijk naderhand 4,35 meter in noordelijke richting verlengd. Het linker muurgedeelte is gezien de toepassing van machinale baksteen onder- en bovenin, de geringere hoogte en de afwijkende steunberen ooit opnieuw opgemetseld.
Omschrijving
Door een ezelsrug met daaronder een bloktand afgedekte muur van in kruisverband gemetselde rode handvormsteen waalformaat met een totale lengte van ongeveer 40 meter en in het midden een 4,5 m brede doorgang waarin een ijzeren toegangshek. Het toegangshek is samengesteld uit twee draaiende spijlendelen die verfraaid zijn met golvende florale motieven en afgehangen aan circa 2,80 meter hoge vierkante hekpijlers (0,68 x 0,68 m) van in kruisverband gemetselde rode handvormsteen waalformaat met snijvoeg. De door een piramidevormige deksteen van zandsteen afgedekte hekpijlers hebben een brede gemetselde voet met een bovenrand van afgeschuinde bakstenen en in de voor- en achterzijde een gepleisterd spaarveld. De muur wordt aan weerszijden verstevigd door steunberen. De steunberen van het 1,80 meter hoge muurgedeelte rechts (N) van de doorgang verjongen zich in een schuine lijn (die van het 1,60 m hoge linker muurgedeelte getrapt). Aan het einde van beide muurdelen en op circa 4,35 meter van rechts bevindt zich een circa 2,20 meter hoge gemetselde pijler met een zandstenen deksteen in piramidevorm (tussen de twee rechter pijlers is de muur opgetrokken in hergebruikte machinale baksteen).
Waardering
De begraafplaatsmuur met bijbehorend toegangshek is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische waarde als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het rooms-katholiek kerkelijk complex St. Laurentius.

Cemetery WALL from 1862, forming part of the Roman Catholic ecclesiastical complex St. Laurentius. The cemetery is separated from the Stroomerlaantje on the front by a wall in which an entrance gate. The wall section to the right (N) of the entrance gate was presumably subsequently extended 4.35 metres in a northerly direction. The left wall section, given the use of machine brick below and above, the lesser height and the differing buttresses, was evidently re-mortared at some point.
Description
Wall of red hand-moulded brick of Waal format laid in Flemish bond and topped with a saddle back with below it a tooth pattern, with a total length of approximately 40 metres and in the middle a 4.5 m wide opening in which an iron entrance gate. The entrance gate is composed of two hinged railed parts decorated with undulating floral motifs and hung on approximately 2.80 metre high square gate posts (0.68 x 0.68 m) of red hand-moulded brick of Waal format laid in Flemish bond with raked joints. The gate posts, topped with a pyramid-shaped sandstone cap, have a broad mortared base with a top edge of bevelled bricks and on the front and rear side a plastered spare field. The wall is reinforced on both sides by buttresses. The buttresses of the 1.80 metre high wall section to the right (N) of the opening taper in a sloped line (those of the 1.60 m high left wall section are stepped). At the end of both wall sections and at approximately 4.35 metres from the right is a approximately 2.20 metre high mortared post with a pyramid-shaped sandstone cap (between the two right posts the wall is built up in reclaimed machine brick).
Valuation
The cemetery wall with its associated entrance gate is of general interest due to its cultural-historical value as a historic-functional component of the Roman Catholic ecclesiastical complex St. Laurentius.
