Inleiding
PRIESTERGRAF uit 1881 deel uitmakend van het rooms-katholiek kerkelijk complex St. Laurentius. Na het overlijden van de bouwpastoor dr. Josephus Bernardus Eulenbach op 26 december 1880 gaf het kerkbestuur architect E.J. Margry opdracht voor hem een grafteken te ontwerpen. Margry ontwierp een grafmonument in een bij de nieuwe kerk passende neogotische stijl. Vermoedelijk is het staande grafmonument pas naderhand uitgebreid met een grafzerk.
Omschrijving
Priestergraf bestaande uit een bijna vier meter hoog staand grafmonument van cremekleurig kalksteen waarvoor een 0,10 m dikke hardstenen grafzerk van 2,75 x 1,15 meter met de namen van de pastoors die hier begraven liggen. Het op een hardstenen voet (1,57 x 0,74 m) geplaatste staande grafteken is opgebouwd uit een sokkel waarop een door driekwartzuiltjes met knoppenkapiteel geflankeerde spitsboognis met daarin in hoogreliÙf een engel die een kruis draagt. Ter hoogte van de spitsboog versmald het grafmonument zich door middel van met bloemmotieven verfraaide voluten. Het door een zadeldakje afgedekte smalle bovenste gedeelte van het grafmonument heeft aan de voorzijde een medaillon waarin in reliÙf een kelk tussen een alfa en omega als symbolen van Christus. Boven het zadeldakje wordt het grafmonument bekroond door een Latijns kruis met in het hart een vierpasmotief en daaromheen een bloemenkrans. De kruisarmen lopen uit in een floraal motief. De sokkel heeft een geprofileerde onder- en bovenplaat en tegen de met hoekzuiltjes verfraaide voorzijde een hardstenen plaat met het opschrift "PRIESTERGRAF" (deze plaat is vermoedelijk naderhand aangebracht, gezien het lettertype wellicht gelijktijdig met de grafzerk).

Het priestergraf uit 1881 is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische waarde als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het rooms-katholiek kerkelijk complex St. Laurentius en als gaaf bewaard priestergraf uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw uitgevoerd in neogotische stijl naar ontwerp van architect E.J. Margry.

PRIEST'S GRAVE from 1881 forming part of the Roman Catholic ecclesiastical complex St. Laurentius. Following the death of the building pastor Dr. Josephus Bernardus Eulenbach on 26 December 1880, the church council gave architect E.J. Margry the commission to design a monument for him. Margry designed a grave monument in a Neo-Gothic style befitting the new church. Presumably the standing grave monument was only later extended with a grave slab.
Description
Priest's grave consisting of a nearly four-metre-high standing grave monument of cream-coloured limestone with in front of it a 0.10 m thick stone grave slab of 2.75 x 1.15 metres bearing the names of the pastors buried here. The standing grave monument, placed on a stone base (1.57 x 0.74 m), is constructed from a plinth upon which stands a pointed-arch niche flanked by three-quarter columns with bulb capitals, within which is carved in high relief an angel bearing a cross. At the height of the pointed arch the grave monument narrows by means of volutes decorated with floral motifs. The narrow upper section of the grave monument, covered by a small gabled roof, has on its front a medallion in which is carved in relief a chalice between an alpha and omega as symbols of Christ. Above the small gabled roof the grave monument is crowned by a Latin cross with a quatrefoil motif in its centre and around it a wreath of flowers. The arms of the cross terminate in a floral motif. The plinth has a moulded lower and upper plate and against its front, decorated with corner columns, a stone plaque bearing the inscription "PRIESTERGRAF" (this plaque was presumably applied later, given the typeface possibly contemporary with the grave slab).
Assessment
The priest's grave from 1881 is of general importance by virtue of its cultural-historical value as a historical-functional component of the Roman Catholic ecclesiastical complex St. Laurentius and as a well-preserved priest's grave from the last quarter of the 19th century executed in Neo-Gothic style after a design by architect E.J. Margry.
