Inleiding
FAMILIEGRAF "De Wit", deel uitmakend van het rooms-katholiek kerkelijk complex St. Laurentius. Het in neogotische stijl uitgevoerde grafmonument van de familie De Wit dateert gezien de oudst vermelde overlijdensdatum (11-11-1884) vermoedelijk uit 1885. Dit familiegraf is gezien de stilistische overeenkomsten met het priestergraf wellicht eveneens ontworpen door architect E.J. Margry.
Omschrijving
Samengesteld grafmonument bestaande uit een circa 2,80 m hoog staand grafteken van cremekleurig kalksteen met daarvoor een 0,13 m dikke hardstenen grafzerk van 2,22 x 1,02 meter. De grafzerk rust op een lage roef en draagt de namen van de vier familieleden die hier begraven liggen. Het staande grafteken bestaat uit een hardstenen voet van 1,02 x 0,63 meter waarop een naar boven toe zich versmallende onderbouw met in de door hoekzuiltjes geflankeerde voorzijde een spitsboogveld waarin een vlinder (symbool van de sterfelijke ziel) is weergegeven boven de tekst "RUST/ IN/ VREDE". Op de onderbouw rust een met een bloemenkrans en hogels verfraaide pinakel die bekroond wordt door een Latijns kruis met florale motieven.
Waardering
Het familiegraf "De Wit" is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische waarde als karakteristiek en gaaf bewaard neogotisch familiegraf uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw en als onderdeel van het rooms-katholiek kerkelijk complex St. Laurentius.

FAMILY GRAVE "De Wit", forming part of the Roman Catholic ecclesiastical complex St. Laurentius. The grave monument of the De Wit family, executed in neo-gothic style, is presumed to date from 1885 based on the earliest recorded death date (11-11-1884). This family grave is, given the stylistic similarities with the priest's grave, possibly also designed by architect E.J. Margry.
Description
Composite grave monument consisting of an approximately 2.80 m high standing grave marker of cream-coloured limestone with in front of it a 0.13 m thick stone grave slab of 2.22 x 1.02 metres. The grave slab rests on a low frame and bears the names of the four family members buried here. The standing grave marker consists of a stone base of 1.02 x 0.63 metres on which sits a base structure that narrows upwards, with on the front side flanked by corner columns a pointed arch field in which a butterfly (symbol of the mortal soul) is depicted above the text "REST/ IN/ PEACE". On the base structure rests a pinnacle decorated with a flower garland and ornaments which is crowned by a Latin cross with floral motifs.
