Inleiding
HERENHUIS "Parkzicht" uit 1905 is tegelijkertijd gebouwd met het naastgelegen pand Nieuwlandersingel 54, naar ontwerp van de architect E. Kalverboer. Het pand maakt onderdeel uit van het complex "Nieuwlandersingel" langs de Singelgracht tegenover het Kennemerpark in Alkmaar.
Omschrijving
Het herenhuis heeft een langwerpige rechthoekige plattegrond en telt boven een souterrain twee bouwlagen en een zolder onder afgeknot schilddak met gesmoorde geglazuurde Romaanse pannen. De voorgevel is boven het gepleisterde souterrain op opgetrokken in gele strengperssteen, de achtergevel in bruine baksteen. De schuifvensters zijn grotendeels voorzien van een vertikale roedenverdeling in de bovenlichten en gekleurd glas-in-lood in Art Nouveautrant. Boven de vensters segmentbogen van gele verblendsteen met aanzetstukken van grijze (kunst)steen en lateien. De voorgevel telt drie vensterassen waarvan middelste in een verhoogde risaliet met asymmetrische trapgevel, die aan de bovenzijde is voorzien van kantelen met natuurstenen dekplaat. Op de verdieping een dubbele glasdeur met rondboogvormige ramen en een bovenlicht onder latei naar een balkon. Het tweeledige zoldervenster is overeenkomstig de asymmetrische trapgevel getrapt. In de afgesnoten linker vensteras twee schuifvensters boven elkaar met tweeruits bovenlicht en in de rechter vensteras op de bel etage de entree. Een trap van 6 treden leidt naar de oorspronkelijke paneeldeur in Art Nouveautrant onder drieruits bovenlicht. Daarboven een verdiepingvenster met openslaande ramen onder een vierruits bovenlicht en in het dakschild een kleine dakkapel. Aan de achterzijde is de bel etage iets uitgebouwd en bevat links een eenvoudige glasdeur met zijlicht en rechts een brede schuifpui. Op de verdieping een balkon over de hele breedte van de gevel met rechts openslaande glasdeuren onder vijfruits bovenlicht en links een venster met drieruits bovenlicht. Het interieur uit de bouwtijd is grotendeels bewaard gebleven met onder meer de oorspronkelijke plattegrondindeling, en trap, paneeldeuren en ornamentstucplafonds, schouwen en glas-in-loodramen in Art Nouveau trant.
Waardering
Het herenhuis "Parkzicht" uit 1905 is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als grotendeels gave representant van de Art Nouveaustijl, zowel uit- als inwendig, uit het oeuvre van de architect Kalverboer. Description
The mansion has an elongated rectangular floor plan and comprises two storeys above the basement and an attic under a half-hipped roof with hipped glazed Romanesque tiles. The front facade above the plastered basement is built in yellow pressed brick, the rear facade in brown brick. The sash windows are largely provided with a vertical glazing bar division in the fanlights and coloured leaded glass in Art Nouveau style. Above the windows segmental arches of yellow facing brick with connection pieces of grey (artificial) stone and lintels. The front facade has three window bays of which the middle one is in a raised risalit with asymmetrical stepped gable, which at the top is provided with crenellations with natural stone coping. On the storey a double glass door with round-arched sashes and a fanlight under lintel to a balcony. The two-part dormer window is stepped in accordance with the asymmetrical stepped gable. In the blocked-off left window bay two sash windows above each other with two-pane fanlight and in the right window bay on the piano nobile the entrance. A flight of 6 steps leads to the original panelled door in Art Nouveau style under three-pane fanlight. Above it a storey window with opening sashes under a four-pane fanlight and in the roof panel a small roof dormer. On the rear side the piano nobile is slightly extended and contains to the left a simple glass door with side light and to the right a wide sash window. On the storey a balcony along the entire width of the facade with to the right opening glass doors under five-pane fanlight and to the left a window with three-pane fanlight. The interior from the period of construction has been largely preserved with among others the original floor plan layout and staircase, panelled doors and ornamental stucco ceilings, fireplaces and leaded glass windows in Art Nouveau style.
Valuation
The mansion "Parkzicht" from 1905 is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural-historical value as a largely intact representative of the Art Nouveau style, both exterior and interior, from the oeuvre of architect Kalverboer. The house has situational value as part of the complex "Nieuwlandersingel" which is very visually prominent situated along the southern edge of the Singelgracht opposite Kennemerpark.
