Inleiding
HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG, deel uitmakend van het complex buitenplaats "Berghuis". De 19de-eeuwse tuin- en parkaanleg is in de jaren dertig in Nieuw-Architectonische tuinstijl aangepast, naar ontwerp van tuinarchitect Haspels.
Omschrijving
De historische tuin- en parkaanleg bestaat voor een gedeelte uit parkbos en voor een deel uit een rechtlijnige tuinaanleg bij het huis.
Voor de achtergevel van het huis een terras met lage gemetselde borstwering. De halfronde serre in het midden van de gevel ligt in de as van de brede rechte beukenallee, die deel uitmaakt van de oudere aanleg en eindigt bij de sloot die de grens met Flevorama en Zuiderhof vormt. Het niveauverschil van het huis naar de lager gelegen tuin, die grotendeels bestaat uit gazon, wordt overbrugd door twee trappen in de middenas van de serre. In het lager gelegen deel van de tuin staat in de middenas een zonnewijzer, geflankeerd door twee smalle paden in het gras en daarachter ligt de ovaalvormige vijver, aan weerszijden omzoomd door rodondendrons. In het parkbos is de rechte lanenstructuur nog duidelijk herkenbaar aanwezig en bestaat de boombeplanting voornamelijk uit beuken, eiken en linden. In het zuidwestelijke vak ligt de kwekerij met bijbehorende zaadloodsen die van Zuiderhof zijn afgeschermd door een aarden wal met boombeplanting. In het noordwestelijke vak slingerbos dat overgaat in het terrein van Flevorama.
Waardering
De grotendeels 19de-eeuwse park- en tuinaanleg behorend tot het complex "Berghuis" is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en tuinarchitectuurhistorische waarde als oorspronkelijk onderdeel van het grote vroeg 19de-eeuwse landgoed van J.P. van Rossum. De parkaanleg heeft situationele waarde vanwege de ligging in de landgoederenstrook in de Gooise noordflank.

The historical garden and park layout consists in part of park wood and in part of a rectilinear garden layout at the house.
In front of the rear facade of the house a terrace with low masonry balustrade. The semicircular conservatory in the middle of the facade lies in the axis of the broad straight beech avenue, which forms part of the older layout and ends at the ditch which forms the boundary with Flevorama and Zuiderhof. The height difference from the house to the lower-lying garden, which consists largely of lawn, is bridged by two flights of steps in the central axis of the conservatory. In the lower-lying section of the garden stands in the central axis a sundial, flanked by two narrow paths in the grass and behind it lies the oval-shaped pond, bordered on either side by rhododendrons. In the park wood the straight lane structure is still clearly recognisable and the tree planting consists mainly of beeches, oaks and limes. In the southwestern section lies the nursery with associated seed stores which are screened from Zuiderhof by an earthen bank with tree planting.
