Inleiding complexonderdeel 4
De bij het WAVO-park behorende TUINAANLEG in Decoratieve Tuinstijl is in 1927 ontworpen door de Haagse architect S. de Clerq, die tevens optrad als huisarchitect van de opdrachtgevers, het echtpaar Van Ommeren-de Voogt. Het ontwerp is aangegeven op de bouwtekening van de woningen. Langs de voorgevel staan ijzeren LANTAARNS uit de bouwtijd. De toegangsweg leidt over twee BRUGGEN uit 1927 met gemetselde balustrades. De rand tegen de achtergevel van het gebouw was oorspronkelijk met rotstuintjes ingericht, zodat een vloeiende overgang van steen naar groen werd verkregen. Achter het gebouwencomplex vrije zichten over de weilanden die aan de oostzijde worden beëindigd door een rechte bomenrand, waarachter het park van de buitenplaats Rust en Vreugd ligt.
Omschrijving
Voor het gebouwencomplex gelegen tuin bestaande uit een (iets hoekige) halvemaanvormige waterpartij en daar omheen een eveneens halvemaanvormige toegangsweg. Tussen de trappen naar de bovenwoningen bevinden zich kleine voortuintjes, waarlangs ijzeren straatlantaarns zijn geplaatst. De waterpartij heeft graskanten, afgeronde oevers en een steil talud met op de middenas een trapje naar het water. Aan de straatzijde staan boomgroepen en heesters, coniferen en rododendrons. De waterpartij staat via duikers met daarover twee bruggen in verbinding met een sloot. De bruggen zijn herkenbaar aan gemetselde balustrades in de stijl van de Nieuwe Haagse School met verspringende delen. Het talud aan de achterzijde van het gebouw is - voorzien van trappen - opgenomen in de achtertuintjes, die van het omlopende halvemaanvormige pad worden gescheiden door een haag. De aanleg wordt begrensd door een halvemaanvormige sloot.
Waardering
De tuinaanleg bij het WAVO-park is van algemeen belang vanwege cultuurhistorische, architectuurhistorische waarde en vanwege de ensemblewaarde:
- vanwege het ruimtelijke concept en de eenheid tussen het gebouw en de groenaanleg;

The garden layout in Decorative Garden style belonging to the WAVO-park was designed in 1927 by The Hague architect S. de Clerq, who also acted as house architect for the clients, the married couple Van Ommeren-de Voogt.
