Inleiding
Op het terrein van Duin en Bosch gelegen VERPLEEGSTERSHUIS uit 1916. Het gebouw is ontworpen in de stijl van het Rationalisme met kenmerken van de Chalet-stijl. Het bevindt zich pal ten noordwesten van het hoofdgebouw (administratie). Op de verdieping was ruimte voor 20 verpleegsters. Beneden waren eet- en conversatiezalen. N.B. De moderne aanbouwen tegen de achtergevel maken geen deel uit van de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Op een rechthoekige plattegrond in halfsteens verband opgetrokken tweelagig bouwwerk onder een met rode verbeterde Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak met steekkappen. In de kap bevinden zich dakkapellen onder zadeldaken. De verdiepingslaag is aan de voorzijde witgepleisterd. De aanzetblokken van de strekken en de lekdorpels van de kozijnen zijn in hardsteen uitgevoerd. De symmetrische voorgevel op het zuiden heeft twee hoekrisalieten en centraal in de kap een dakkapel. De deuren aan de binnenzijde van de risalieten hebben een hardstenen latei onder een gemetseld drieruits bovenlicht. De deuren in het terugliggend deel bevinden zich onder een strek. De vensters zijn gekoppeld met vierruits bovenlicht. De risalieten hebben in de vakwerk topgevel een drieruits venster, waarvan het middelste hoger is. De dakkapel heeft een beschot met daaronder drie gekoppelde vierruits vensters.
De rechter zijgevel (oost) heeft op de begane grond vier T-ramen met achtruits bovenlicht. Op de verdieping bevinden zich tussen twee vergelijkbare vensters twee smalle vensters met een vierruits bovenlicht. De dakkapel is als die aan de voorgevel maar met een andere roedeverdeling.
De andere zijgevel (west) heeft op de begane grond een T-raam met een zesruits bovenlicht en draairamen onder een achtruits bovenlicht. Op de verdieping zijn twee vensters geplaatst met een vierruits bovenlicht en een T-raam met een achtruits bovenlicht. De vrijwel symmetrische achtergevel heeft rechts op de begane grond drie en op de verdieping twee smalle zesruits vensters en in het trappenhuis daarnaast twee hoge en twee lage vensters. Het rechterdeel heeft in afwijking op de begane grond twee schuifvensters met achtruits bovenlichten. Tussen de beide trappenhuizen bevinden zich op de verdieping zeven T-ramen met achtruits bovenlichten. In de kap zijn drie dakkapellen opgenomen met in de driedeling van het venster een verticale roedeverdeling.
Waardering
Het voormalige verpleegstershuis is van algemeen belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het ziekenhuiscomplex Duin en Bosch. Vanwege de architectonische vormgeving in stijl van het Rationalisme met kenmerken van de chalet-stijl. Vanwege de ensemblewaarde.

Description
A two-storey structure erected on a rectangular plan in half-brick bond and covered with a hipped roof with red improved Dutch tiles and roof slates. In the roof are roof dormers with gabled roofs. The upper storey is whitewashed on the front. The base blocks of the pilasters and the drip mouldings of the windows are executed in sandstone. The symmetrical south-facing front elevation has two corner risalits and centrally in the roof a roof dormer. The doors on the inside of the risalits have a sandstone lintel beneath a built-in three-pane fanlight. The doors in the recessed section are located beneath a pilaster. The windows are coupled with four-pane fanlights. The risalits have a three-pane window in the half-timbered stepped gable, the middle one being higher. The roof dormer has wooden cladding with beneath it three coupled four-pane windows.
The right side elevation (east) has four T-windows with eight-pane fanlights on the ground floor. On the upper storey between two similar windows are two narrow windows with four-pane fanlights. The roof dormer is like that on the front elevation but with different glazing bars.
The other side elevation (west) has a T-window with a six-pane fanlight and casement windows beneath an eight-pane fanlight on the ground floor. On the upper storey are two windows with four-pane fanlights and a T-window with an eight-pane fanlight. The virtually symmetrical rear elevation has on the right three windows on the ground floor and two narrow six-pane windows on the upper storey, and in the stairwell alongside two tall and two low windows. The right section has by way of exception two sash windows with eight-pane fanlights on the ground floor. Between the two staircases are seven T-windows with eight-pane fanlights on the upper storey. In the roof are three roof dormers incorporated with a vertical glazing bar division in the three-part window division.
